Pure Drives are big hitting racquets, and they're thick. I have a playing style similiar to gasquet (one hander etc)
does it make sense for me to be using a pure drive if i try to employ the "magician" style like gasquet or fed?
or does it matter?

Makes no sense. If you want to be a magician use a wand not a racquet.

Magician style is very complex, the racquet doesnt matter, but you might need a cat, a cape and some accesories.

It is. Thankfully, I watch for his tennis, not for his aesthetics.

agreed.
He's a lot easier to watch than Roddick, potmarked face and all.

I'll bite.

No, it doesn't make sense. Get a soft mid style racket. Much better for one handers and trick shots.

I hit with a lot of garbage shots, and I found the Redondo mid/midplus to be nice for that. Rackets with a stiffness under 62 seem to work well for pulling those pretty touch shots. :)
