View Full Version : Question about Nike RF trophy court polo (US OPEN 2010) obsidian vs football blue

I recently purchase the obsidian(navy) version of the 2010 US Open polo that federer wore that year and noticed some differences when compared to the football blue version of that polo. The differences are: 1) the fabric, they don't feel the same, the obsidian being rougher (according to the tag the navy is 66% cotton/ 32% polyester/ 2% spandex while the lt blu is consistent with current material of federer shirts 88% dri fit/ 12% spandex); 2) the navy sleeves are not seam welded but rather stitched while the lt blue was seam welded (the distraction free concept). Any feedback appreciated, I am just trying to figure out if I just have a version from another country or possibly a counterfeit item since I have seen a lt blue fake one circulating on the bay so that is not far from happening.

I have both of those shirts and they say the same material composition. They are also both seam welded in the same way.

Did you guy the navy one on one of the auction sites by any chance? I have suspected for a while that someone is making fakes of these shirts seeing how often they come up from certain sellers.

Can someone else confirm this? yes, I bought it on an auction site, could you possible check the composition of the navy polo? It is located on the inside of the shirt, lower left of the shirt. Thanks

Are you sure you bought the "RF" version, and not the cheaper version without RF monogram nor welded seam ?
Nike always sell 2 versions.

No, this one does not have a cheaper version, none that I am aware of anyway. I think it is the real thing but I just can't get over how rough the fabric is. It is almost like a pique polo but a lighter and thinner fabric. I just want to know if everyone else's version is the same as mine, in terms of composition of the fabric used to make the shirt.

does it have the rf logo on the chest? it is supposed to have the rf on the chest and the swoosh in the sleeve, also are they heat transfered or embroidered? it would help if you post any picture of it

The swoosh and rf logo are both heat transferred.

As you can see, the light blue one is seam welded at the seam while the navy is stitched. All other seam welding on shoulder, sides, etc are similar.

Sorry I think you've got a fake. I have the non-RF versions of both and can confirm that they're both poly/spandex blends.

Those photos don't look like fakes to me

yeah they look legit but from the picture the navy one looks rough or another word would be "thick" other question how do you feel it on your skin? and how does it feel when you sweat on it? assuming you wear it to play

I's guess by looking at this pics that the navy shirt isn't the proper shirt. The material is quite textured like a cotton knit... the actual shirts were nothing like that at all. Compare the knit to the light blue one. They should be identical, mine are.

Don't seems to be the same fabric as on your pictures...

In my personal opinion i think is just Nike Factory Store Variation, that what he sells only Nike. So you just got a weird variation of the shirt made with other materials. I have seen some weird looking shirts in my outlet

Also the bottom of the placket is completely different to the proper version as in the pic posted above by raphMODE.

Seriously, they don't make variations like this on their top of the range shirts. It's a knock-off, a pretty good one too - the likes of which I've seen many times in SE Asia (Cambodia and Vietnam).

While searching... I stumbled upon this website. Notice the description of the items. LINK FOR BETTER PIC (http://www.suntenniscenter.com/januaryspecials.pdf)

There are 3 RF polos on the right, take note of the material fabric and description. The US OPEN 2010 obsidian polo in question states that it is DRI-FIT PIQUE POLO, while the other two says knit jersey and knit polo. What do you guys think? The site is legit. Retail is $80, so this is no cheaper version. I would like to hear from other TWers that have the polo and have similar fabric.

i can't get the point in this thread..
the buyer don't accept a fake
thre others tell him he probably got a fake.
this will end probably with "you probably got an ultra rare version of the shirt made for the ones who cannot for some reasons wear dri fit" :)
