Start playing doubles only, with his style of play he could definitely, if he found a good partner, have a top doubles team. Look at all of the other older guys who do well in doubles, so just imagine how well Federer would do!

He has played so many years it might not be fun. He might want to do more stuff with his family.

That's true but I feel like he does love tennis enough that he might want to do it.

Rogi should partner with Rafa. I'd love to see the posts here if that happens.

Maybe fed doesnt like his family so after he finishes singles he can use doubles is a good excuse to stay away.

Of course he can do that. I'd love to see that.
But practically the singles limelight is much more huge compared to doubles. Why settle for something inferior.

Did Sampras/Agassi/Lendl started playing doubles after retiring.No. You can see that the doubles specialists are players who didn't succeed as singles or didn't even try.

Well the interesting point there could be that it would be a great way to add to his total slam count.... singles and doubles combined that is.

The reason is, Nadal is not likely to catch Fed in singles slams....Novak is much more of a threat even though he's farther behind.

If Novak gets say 18 Singles Slams, Roger 17 and Rafa, say 13(piles on a few more french opens) Then Roger could really look like the best out of the 3 if Roger and Rafa could team up for say 10 Doubles slams(easier said than done, I know)

If you call stepping onto court while the wife, kids and parents are in the front row of the stands as "staying away", then sure thing.:)

^^ A career slam in doubles should be neat for Rogi.

I guess we'll know this year. If djokovic stops beating rafael nadalogram then djokovic won't win many more slams. If djokovic keeps beating rafael nadalogram then djokovic will get some more slams. Or if federer is beating djokovic than it throws another spanner into the mirks.

Nah, according to most TW experts Fed's volleys suck so it would be a waste of time for him.

Well, I agree with that but there are some exceptions such as Jmac.

Sampras looks the best at doubles in the world when he plays it.

I think that playing doubles only would be very hard for him to do. After playing singles so much, it would be a major. Fed must improve his reaction volleys in order for him to be a good doubles player.

True, Rafa should find a more worthy partner.

Or worst comes to worst, Rafa can hug the net where he shines, and Rogi can stand at the baseline grinding away like usual.

 So true.... They should watch him on these faster courts in Dubai and they'll rethink their claims along those lines.

Fed does goof up a lot on those BH volleys that fall at his toes.

Federer won't do this because he can make a lot more money by playing exhibitions.
