View Full Version : Murray vs Nadal - the war of the pranks. Hilarious

So basically Murray and Nadal clearly are best buddies, they have their 'banter' off and on the court.

Murray's recently been doing these Head tennis 'FB Q&A' videos and when asked about what video games he plays, he mentions Pro-Evo and how Monaco is "Good" and Rafa is "Ok." Proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ5aVMLgrT8#t=1m47).

Now, in his second interview when asked about what pranks he's set in the locker room he mentions how Nadal pranked him once by sending him a certain text* to wind him up,

I'm actually in the process of thinking one up for Rafa Nadal. I was out at dinner with my girlfriend and I got a message on my phone in the middle of dinner saying 'Hi Andy, you look great tonight, shame your girlfriends here...' with a couple of kisses. And I panicked, I didn't know who it was from. It wasn't until I was walking back to the hotel that I realised it was him. So I'm in the process of thinking of a way to get him back" Proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9vsTbXLol8#t=1m01s).

I just thought it was quite funny. Wonder what Murray could do to prank Nadal?

* another note, notice how they're exchanging numbers. Do you think any other amongst top 4 exchange numbers apart from Murray and Djokovic?

Lol. Didn't know Rafa can be so funny. I remember he tried to prank Ferrer but failed.

Nadal is the most funny guy in Spain.
for those who don't know, he also considered a stand-up career when he was 10-12..

seriously, it's very nice to know these guys are really friends and generally have fun together.

It hasn't actually been established that it was Nadal who sent the message, so Murray should probably be on stalker alert for the next week. He'd be well advised to fire up Fatal Attraction on Blu-ray after his next practice session -after all, it's not like he needs to watch tapes of Garcia-Lopez to know the threat awaiting him in that match.

it's such a bummer i don't really like Murray's game,

Just try to appreciate why he plays like that and force yourself to take on that opinion. What don't you like about his game? Pushing?

He is an interesting person yeah, he's been through alot.
He has the typical British sense of humour and grew up here at the same time I was, so it's easy to understand where he's coming from alot of the time.

I'm lucky I appreciate his game too, the way he thinks his way to winning points through putting the ball in areas his opponent least wants it is a rare art in todays game. I can understand why people might not see that, maybe he will be appreciated more when he's not around :)

Murray's lack of clutchness frustrates me but overall he's been the only player on tour that I've really wanted to see win apart from Rafael "golden career grand slam" Nadal.

That was a good prank idea Nadal had, as long as Murray's girlfriend didn't leave him of course, that would have been unlucky.

I love Murrays game, now he is confident and being more aggressive so I think he will win a slam this year

The Muzz is a good guy, I hope he wins a slam soon.

Maybe he'll arrange a huge pyramid of water bottles on the court for one of Rafas matches, and knock them all over just as he arrives.

I love Murray's game and humor. The only thing I don't like is his lack of competitiveness at times, but I'm still rooting for him to get over the hump.

I believe he replied saying:

"Hi Rafa, you looking great tonight, shame you don't have a girlfriend."

Murrya may be good good friends with Raphla and even call him the greatest etc but once in a while he fails to hide the fact that he is actually a closet ******* (of the Lolville kind).

it wasn't a prank, it was nadal's ill judged attempt to come clean and tell muzza how much he loves him. He thought he picked up on muzza looking at him in a "special" way, but sadly no... it is unrequited love

(was gonna photoshop Brokeback Mountain with Nadal and Murray, but I honestly can't be bothered  )

^I'm sure Muzza loves him too. :p Remember when he was asked to choose between Rafa and Novak and he said Rafa.

i don't know.. it's some emotional instinctive feeling when i see him.
i don't really like his body moves, i don't like his 'waiting for serve' motion,
and yea, something about his gameplay is annoying too.

apart from that, his off court character and humor is really great.

i can even go further and say i like him more than all other top players- off court. :(
i should really try to change my heart with this guy. although after IW i find it harder

That is funny. Murray is so droll when he tells these stories. It was funny to watch their respective press conferences when they were going back and forth about who won their PS contests and what rules they were following. They're both so competitive in everything they do but it's interesting to get a little inside info on how they spend their down time.

Murray just pranked us all by leaving the tournament earlier to relax in Miami

What about Feli, Dasco and the others ? By what yardstick is Murray better than them ?

Eventually their texts will be reading like:

"Hi Andy, you look great tonight, girlfriend"

Really the more PC thing would have been to not chose someone there :)

For all the people saying top players can't be friends with each other, they sure seem to be. I don't really know if any other top players are actually friends... well, Rafa and Ferrer, but then Ferrer isn't a top player in quite the same way...

His waiting for serve motion... he has such a good return and yet he doesn't do any of the stuff other players do. He just stands there, pretty much. What is the point of what the other players do?.

Looks like Murray managed to prank Nadal back. Now that he's lost, Djokovic has a clear path into the final, with Rafa probably waiting on the other side.
