Give two choices. One that takes in to account the situation he's in and another that doesn't.

1. The backhand passing shot at championship point down in wimbledon 2008
2. The smash against roddick at basel.

The W passing shot is the most clutch shot I've seen in my life.
The guy was about to lose his Wimbledon crown after half a decade, to a guy who had recently destroyed him at RG.

...and he comes up with this impossible, perfect shot...

Match saving behind the back shot against Nalbandian in the semi finals of the French a few years ago.

Fed slice cc then fh dtl to break Nadal in set 5 of the 2007 Dumbledore final.

Fed hitting a nutty no-look stretchalicious lob against Agassi - Dubai 2005.

The backhand passing shot was way more important and in my opinion a tough thing to do in a situation like that. Go Feds you legend!!

Imagine Federer winning that match against Rafa in W08. That shot would have been historic.

It would have been no different to Federer beating Nadal in 2007 Wimbledon, aka expected.

Uhm. No. He saved a matchpoint with an insane passing shot. Federer wasn't really that much expected to win Wimbledon anyway in 2008. He was the slight favourite maybe 55-45, the year before he came in with something like 75-25 imo. Huge differences between the years. Had Federer won that match the way Rafa won it, it'd meant a lot, and that backhand passing would have been a lot bigger than it looks today.

Fed was going for his 6 straight W title in that final.

Fed's IO FH to save BP against Haas in the 3rd set of their 2009 RG match is still being remembered, even though Fed was a huge favorite. And that wasn't even on MP nor in the final.

It's ok. Most of us have favorite match points, like the last 8 that Djoker has closer Nadal out on.

It doesn't get better than this. Greatest shot in tennis history imo.

I'm with you on that one!

In fact it's very hard to pick. The Roddick thing was ridiculous too....

And then there's this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO9Yx8VQl9w

Exactly. That shot wasn't that special. But it's in my memory and will be for a long time, probably until Federer wins a second RG aka forever.

The fact it was a matchpoint meant nothing. I just liked the way Federer missed the ball. I'm not a pro tennis player, but not even I have done that.
