Was about to smash an overhead and my racquet slips out of my hand straight into the ground and I was like sheeetttttt, looked around and found the crack. My overgrip was really worn out and I kept saying I would get a new one but procrastinated and this is what I get I guess. Is the crack bad enough that I need to get a new racquet or can I still use it? I played with it fine after the crack but was just wondering since I heard the inside of a racquet can be poisonous??

From the pictures, it looks like more of a scrape. How does it play? Is it still structurally rigid? If it has even a tiny crack, you should replace it.

that's a strage collage style you've opted for.

Start looking for that receipt. Hope it's still under warranty. If you charged it on a credit card, you might be able to extend that 1-year warranty to 2 years.

Listen to the sound the racquet makes when you hit a ball and you can tell if it is cracked or not but to me that looks cracked -.-

Well when I played after the crack happened I was still able to use the racket like before and it didnt feel weird or anything. The crack looks bad but hasn't made a difference it seems. Ill hit with it one more time and if I notice anything weird that ill get a new one, otherwise can I continue using this one?

Well if you keep using this one and it happens to be a crack, it will only take one mad shank near the crack and it'll break. Your call but i'd get a new one anyway.

Similar thing happened to my lovely i.Prestige Mid years back. Racquet slipped out of my hand on a serve, and I essentially spiked it into the ground like I just scored a touchdown.

Unfortunately, your frame is done.

Your Prestige looks different somehow...

Yeah it looks gunmetal instead of the usual candy red.

Explain yourself and how much?

done this once but it was me being a smartass and start bouncing the racquet around.. once u have that crack u can still use them until you just break them totally..

i mean i broke mine while i was hitting a first serve.. and mine was a pc600.. so im guessing similar..

what i reckon is get a new one and still play with the current one until you break it.. then at least u can say that u "broke" a racquet while playing..

No decent stringer will string that.
It is cracked and it will snap...sooner or later.
Extra vibrations caused by the crack can alter its playability and feel and may cause discomfort

I would get a new one...

Does no one notice that he greyscaled all but the area around the crack? Lol.

There is a racquet repair place in the UK I believe - I don't know how good their results are. If you want to salvage it for repair, I think that I'd cut out the strings right away.

That said, is it that hard to just replace it (and order a 15-pack of overgrips)?

notice the crack carefully and play again, it should become wider.

You should get a new one. The crack is going to grow bigger if you continue to use it

Just bought this racquet maybe 6 months ago, not going to shell out another $200, I'll just keep using it until it breaks because I played with it earlier today and it felt fine.

Oh! Just noticed it now. Though it would be rather sweet with a gunmetal Prestige.

So you didn't buy it from an authorized dealer?

I bought it from Tennis Warehouse. But today when I was hitting the crack got a lot worse and the racket is trash now...and my season starts tomorrow. Should have got a backup racket earlier, not I have a crappy walmart racket to hit with at tryouts...
