View Full Version : Favourite burger

Please list your favourite burger. Love a Goopyburger but after playing at Indy's North Central HS in 100 degree heat, Steak and Shake's AC, malted and burger was as good as it gets. Goopyburger is beef and sausage rolled in a ball raw, wrapped in foil, dropped in the fridge Old-school style then grilled when you order it with home fries. Not sure if this belongs in this board but soon an afternoon of tennis followed by grilled brats and burgers washed down by your favorite beverage will be a reality.

After I play for 2+hrs, anything tastes good, from fresh lobster with drawn butter to a 3 day old peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Here in LA the FATBURGER rules!, NOT IN N OUT. IMO

Johnny Rocket's used to be the best when they were made to order, but then the whole E. Coli scare came and they're all cooked well done now. Still, JR's over Wendy's.

im in canada here, suburbia montreal, we get all the basic junk, nothing cool. So i guess harvey's is the best. I like chicken better anyway.

02-25-2004, 04:20 AM
James if you want good burgers in Montreal, Wendy's is probably the place to go. Harvey's is good too yeah. Yup chicken is good but overpriced. If you want the best subs in town, go to Manzo's in Lasalle.

Steak & Shake "In sight it must be right."

Chili's has a good ground peppercorn burger, and also another one with bleu cheese and chipotle sauce-very nice.

There's a local joint called the Time Bar & Grill. Excellent burgers! If I have to choose a chain, I'd say a Flopper only because it's flame broiled. But you need to find a local burger joint. 9 times out of 10, the food will be cooked to order and will be better than the chains. Living near the best eating city in the country (New Orleans), you learn that the locals do a much better job.

My burgers are quite good. I mix the ground chuck with Tabasco Marinade and then sprinkle the outside with Creole seasoning (Tony's) and plop it on the grill. Swiss cheese melted on the burger and I'm good to go!

Tessaro's in the Bloomfied section of Pittsburgh rated in the Top10 in the country supposedly..now how do you suppose they determine that? It is a killer burger though. Ed

I vote fuddruckers. You can load your burger down with peppers and cheese and other stuff while you're filling up your drinks.

a place called brewbachers-these burgers kick *** and are about 12" around

03-03-2004, 07:39 PM
cob, had a homemade skillet burger when I was 5. Hard to forget a 12" diameter burger the size of a small pizza. Guess the next poll/post will be the best pizza in a cup. Uno's anyone?

I think they should make more foods on sticks, because they already have plenty of foods in cups. Like meats on sticks, or maybe meats in cones?

I will definetely second Fatburger!! My usual is a Double Turkey Burger, with cheese and egg, no lettuce, no tomato, with grilled onions. Ever since i ate a Fatburger Turkey Burger i dont eat normal beef burgers anymore well except for one burger, It's called a Hula from Islands, gotta love the sauteed 'shrooms. If you never heard of Islands or Fatburger, to my knowledge they're only in So-Cal.

now THAT'S a tasty burger. my girlfriend's a vegetarian, which pretty much makes me a vegetarian..... Not true, my girlfriend is vegetarian and i have yet to change my eating habits.

2. fatburger's turkey burger. mmmmm.

i have yet to visit Islands for burgers even though they're everywhere in socal..

Bah. The one and only burger is Stångebro Gatuköks homemade burgers,
with some strong french cheese, homemade dressing, and stuff. And with
that their homemade fries and homemade sauce.

After such a meal you're good for a whole weekend of tennis. That is if
you can manage to move around at all...

But it tastes *really* good.

A must - if you ever happen to visit Linköping in Sweden :-)

Bennigans is pretty good!

Steak and Shake is good, no doubt.... but too far away from my house to get very often.... Rally's is also delicious.

But after tennis, its usually "Pasta-to-Go"....

"L'Authentique" American Burger in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Followed closely by Cindy's American Diner in Basel, Switzerland.

r2473 makes a tasty burger.

90% + lean ground round
lots of blue cheese mixed into the ground round.
a little "Johnney's" salt

grill to perfection (the meat is still very pink and bloody, but cooked).

top with 3 strips of bacon, spinach, tomato, clausen pickles.

The bun must be buttered and toasted. Squirt on some mayo and ketchup.

nothing beats a good Bubba Burger. :)

Santa Fe Burger at Bobby Flay's Burger Palace, lots of drippy cheese, jalapenos. New York Magazine recently declared the burger at Minetta's Tavern to be the best in town, ought to be good as I believe it's $24.

I'm a fan of the halfpounder at Wimpy, a definite classic. Also a fan of Whoppers and the bespoke burger restaurants like GBK and Fine Burger Co.

07-17-2009, 10:43 AM
For chains, I like Smash Burger. Tasty and fresh.

There are a bunch of local joints around here in Mpls/St. Paul that serve a tasty burger. Some of the best I've found are at Busters on 42nd and at the Nook/Shamkrocks in St. Paul.

Nothing beats mama's burgers.

If you ever play at Notre Dame for tennis (or otherwise happen to be in South Bend, IN) you have to go this place called CJ's. Best burger I've ever had.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

But enough with the time warp to 2004...

Had it before; didn't think it was anything special. I don't get why equinox keeps responding to threads from 2004.

At the moment, the best burger I've ever had was Boston Blackie's Oliveburger. However, since watching Food Inc, I've stayed away from burgers at restaurants.

From the 50/50 Tavern in Truckee, CA: the Half-Moon Bay Burger.

Hamburger (beef with a splash of ale) with cream cheese, jalapeños, and honey. Sounds odd. Tastes yummy.

Bacon, beef, toasted bun, ketchup.

A little red onion if desired.
