I went to a local tennis shop and saw a sign that's saying they're selling a used neo 1000. It's a couple years old but it have strung tons of rackets. I wonder if this is a good deal? This is my first time buying a machine and wanting to spend around 500 please help

Sounds like a good deal to me as long as it is in good shape.
Those things are workhorses that last nearly forever if well taken care of.

If in decent shape, it is a great deal. The number of racquets strung should not be a problem if the machine was maintained. Even if this stretches your budget, it sounds like it could be a great opportunity. Good luck.

That's about what I paid for my far older re-furbished Ektelon H from Tennis Machines.. (The Ektelon H is the Neos before production rights were sold to prince...)
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Having strung a few times on a neos, they are well built machines.
The one at our club has strung countless rackets and it still works like a champ. Also the parts on that machine are simple and easy to fix.
Also, depending on the reason for why they are selling it, you may be able to negotiate....so why are they getting rid of it?

This machine is at a local tennis shop. I talked to the owner and he said they upgrade machines every couple of years. Like i said, they've strung tons of rackets on this machine

Sounds like a great deal to me.
Ask about its maintenance and give the tires a kick. Like others have said, if it's been maintained you'll be doing very well.

IF the stringer is in good shape, I'd say "Go for it".

FWIW, I paid $500 for my used Neos 2 1/2 years ago. It was in great shape having been owned by a high school kid who said he only used it about 25 times and from the looks of it I totally believe him. It came with a few sets of string and a set of tools. I am pretty certain that when they bomb my city the only thing left intact will be roaches and my Neos. They are built like a tank and are a delight to string with.
