If the ATP in 70s used the same method as today, how many weeks at No. 1 would Borg and Connors have?

I think it's nearly impossible to answer, because with today's method they probably would have played totally different seasons...

Fully agree. From 1973 to 1977, there were about 4 different circuits. There was the ILTF Grand Prix circuit (including the FO, Wim, and USO), the WCT circuit (including the AO), the US Indoor circuit (run by Bill Riordan) and the European Spring circuit. And from 1974 to 1978, there was also World Team Tennis (WTT), with anybody competing banned from the same year's French Open tournament.

What a contrast from 1990 onwards, with just the ATP World Tour. This has been simplified even more since 2000. In the 1990s, there would be players like Berasategui, who would pack their schedule with clay-court events and play very few tournaments on other surfaces.
