Not sure if anyone seen the interview with Roger after his match with Goffin. Goffin told the fans he had a poster of Roger and that he idolised Roger. At the end of the interview Roger hugged Goffin like a little brother and stroked his hair, refreshing to see such superstars stay so grounded.
Hug between Federer and Goffin after interviews/speeches (4R match!) then Rog pats David on the head and ruffles his hair.

It was, hope Federer continues to play for a couple of years. This match up reminded me of the Kim Clijsters - Steffi Graf match in 1999, where another Belgian played and lost against her idol.

Yeah the interview was cool. It said on internet that David Goffin didn't dare to speak to Roger, because he was so in awe of his idol. Roger heard about that. Very considerate of the French to do this set up after the match. Goffin must have had the time of his life.

i thought it was a cool moment. how often do you see someone go up against his idol? usually, by the time you make it to 'the show' (if you make it to 'the show'), your idol is retired and kickin' his feet up on a beach somewhere with a frosty drink in his hand.

goffin didn't shrink in the limelight. he played well out there today. really well.

that was a final and both players -- winner and loser get interviewed. I am simply saying that if he had lost he would have been off the court in less than 2 minutes and no interview. the french are very informal with these interviews after matches. I saw them grab gasquet for an interview literally 30 seconds after he beat someone. He didn't even have time to towel off.

Most of the times when another sport personality is in Federer box it was related to some common sponsorship deal. Wonder which company is the common factor now? Gillette again??

Can anyone who knows French post a very brief translation?

Interviewer: This Roland Garros has been a living dream for you since the beginning, as a lucky loser you make the main draw, 3 nice wins including one against the 29th seed Radek Stepanek and at the end you play Roger Federer (whom you admire, right?) at least before today (laughs) and afterwards a bit less says Roger.

Rodge: Yes that's right.

David G: Yeah for sure I have had an amazing week (more than a week), I got out of the qualifying with a bit of luck and afterwards I really played my best tennis, I played 3 really good matches and the cherry on the cake was playing Roger. I won't hide the fact that I used to have pictures of Roger all over my bedroom.

Interviewer: A kiss! A kiss! After the interview.

David G: He doesn't look like he wants to.
No but yeah, I'm really happy to have been able to play here and I have had good matches and I've really had a good time here on Suzanne Lenglen and against Roger it really was a dream and I hope to have many matches like this to come and I wish Roger the best of luck for the remaining of the tournament.

Interviewer: I imagine it's not easy for David to begin this match and yet he managed to take the first set.

Rodge: Yes, even more than a set! It was really tough, David played an amazing tournament. It was like a final for him, it was his seventh match. So I'm doing the same, just one week later and it would be great if David could do the same thing someday it would be fantastic. The match was hard, it was windy, David played very very well, I had trouble and what's more I didn't know him very well...now I know him much better and later we will kiss/hug so I will know him much better (laughs). No but I really want to congratulate him with all my heart for his superb tournament.

Interviewer: And now in the locker rooms, you will talk to him? Because up till now he didn't dare come and speak to you.

Rodge: Oh you needn't be shy with me, I am one of the more relaxed ex-number 1s on the tour. I think that one can come and talk to me, what's more, I speak a bit of French so that might help him too.

Interviewer: More than "a bit"! What can you advise David to do next? He is only 21, he will be 22 in December.

Rodge: To rest now! (laughs) And then tackle the grass season I suppose. No, now he will improve day by day and really make the most of it, don't get too disappointed after a loss and keep working hard, have fun on the big stages and beat the best...which you almost did today.

Interviewer: Thanks for that advice. One more question: You are in the quarter-finals, the matches are getting harder but you are used to that. How do you feel physically?

Rodge: Not bad. But you have to, it's the quarter-finals now, it counts but luckily I have a day off...not that I'm worrying but still because today's match was almost 3 hours I guess. But I'm happy, even though I was the overwhelming favourite for all the matches I've played up till now, I'm really happy to be at this stage in the tournament once more and Del Potro and Berdych are going to have a great match I'm sure. I hope they finish today for them, otherwise it's not really "fair" honestly so I'm eager to see that match, afterwards I will prepare appropriately.
