The new answer to the question of "when was the last golden set in a match?" is "June 30, 2012, Shvedova vs. Errani."

But when was the last? According to Wiki: "Bill Scanlon against Marcos Hocevar in the first round of the WCT Gold Coast Classic at Delray Beach on February 22, 1983. Scanlon won the match 62, 60. The achievement is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 1943, Pauline Betz won the Tri-State tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio, defeating Catherine Wolf in the final, 60, 62, without losing a point in the first set."

What was that last game like? Was Shvedova aware that she could make history?

Congratulations, Slava! You go girl! :D

The chances of playing a Golden Set in tennis are the same as the chances of scoring a 59 in golf.

that's the discussion I heard from a couple of commentators earlier ... course they didnt say how many holes, so i suppose it was 18 :)

Historically, it's never before been achieved at a grand slam ... and only once before on the tour!
