View Full Version : Will Andrew Murray be mentally destroyed after losing the 2012 Wimbledon final?

When he loses on Sunday, I believe many are hoping it would set him up for a spiral of depression that will cause him to drop swiftly out of contention for any big titles, fall out of the top 100, and retire shortly after.

Who thinks this will happen?

If he loses (I'm not convinced he will), he'll only be mentally destroyed if he, yet again for the fourth time at a Slam, gets trounced in the final.

If he plays an excellent, tight match against an in-form Fed, he'll be mentally fine, though obviously disappointed.

It's only over after it's over, I don't think anybody predicted Nadal losing to Rosol.

I think this is Murray's great chance for now, later He will have more chances, but until 2014 I believe this is his best chance against an injured Federer.

With this thread and the 'Will Murray even win a point' thread the OP just started in Match Results, I have a better question:

Who thinks the OP will stop creating stupid threads?

I would give my left ball to see Fed triple-bagel him. I would.

I have absolutely no idea who to root for in this match. I want both to win for the obvious reasons, but maybe Murray just a smidge more. And I'm not even a Murray fan.

I'm pulling for Murray a bit more than Fed, but mainly I just want a great match.

I think if Murray blows a huge lead or gets absolutely crushed he might be destroyed, but otherwise I believe he'll be fine.

Federer is gonna rip Murray a new one! The only real question is will Murray cry again after he gets spanked?

I would give my left ball to see Fed triple-bagel him. I would.

So you show your true gender!? You were acting like a girl long before.

OP:

If Murray loses the final, he will be mentally destroyed but it won't stop him from reaching another Grand Slam final to gift the top 3.

the game hasn't even started yet and you have already written Murray off. such hostility isn't called for.
he has reached the same final as Federer, he has as much chance of winning as Federer does.

If Murray loses... he will still perform well in the Olympics and then disappear until the USO.

If Murray wins... he will obviously perform well in the Olympics...

... and then disappear until the USO.

Nah... but he may never win a major if he cant get it done this Sunday. It will just mean he finally found his level... either way!

I am a Nole fan who for once is rooting for Fed.

He will be 3/4 on the way to being slamless in all finals.

No, because it's Federer he is playing.

Mentally destroyed is when you lose to 100th player in the second round.

Here's hoping for the triple bagel - won't offer leftie, but it's a similar feeling.

federer is my favorite player, but murray might win. it would be good for the sport. tennis, as a sport, would benefit either way from the final.

Andrew Murray understands that it's loss and regret and misery and yearning that drive the story forward, along it's twisted road.
