A few weeks ago I started a thread on wrist pain. Raftermania made the following points towards the end of the thread:

Try demoing some racquets maybe in the 3-5 pts. headlight range with a mass of over 11 oz.

Having strong forearms will help support the wrist, but that is a more long term solution. I'd recommend finding some new equipment first that suits your current muscle strength!

Go to the TW racquet finder link above and find racquets that are over 11 oz (11.5 idealy) with a flex of low 60s. And of course not too extrememly head light or head heavy.

Not that I'd doubt Raftermania at all, but a second opinion is usually helpful to me, even if it's just to say "Yeah, what he said!"

So is this right? Any specific racquets you'd suggest? Thanks.

I think you'd definately want to try a heavier racquet with more flex, they usually tend to provide a softer feel. I've never had any real physical problems in my tennis career, but many people who have had arm trouble suggest the Pro Kennex 5G as a very comfortable frame.

Also, what grip do you use on your forehand. Wrist trouble might be due to trying to snap too much trying to hit topspin.

Funny you should mention that. I'm currently using that racquet. Helped with tennis elbow but the wrist got hurt.

Nothing unusual about my grip. Not trying to snap the wrist at all.

Because of different body types, this kind of issue can very usually be subjective. I think the best thing to do is to go to your local proshop and demo a variety of racquet with varying specs (some less headlight, others more). Do make sure that they are heavier racquets. What works for others may not work for you, so give some racquets a try.
