View Full Version : Andy upheld his no.4 ranking. As Nadal along w/Fed were gone, Murray made hay. No?

This is essentially what went on, right? Fed was knocked out early, Rafa never entered, and so, Andy beat the only other slam winner--Nole--this year over five sets, in what was a competitive affair. . would love to anoint Murray here and now but that is not happening because this first slam victory of his comes with certain marks: who are DelPotro and Berdyche as the last obstacles between you and the finals, where is Federer and/or Nadal?

He's beaten Nadal @ the US Open and Australian Open's before; he has nothing to prove as far as being worthy for a slam on hardcourt by beating him. He also beat the bloke that knocked out Federer, so what's your point?
Gaston Gaudio (a former slam winner) wasn't there either. What's your point? ...for a variety of reasons, the big three didn't hang with Andy at this event...and it's not in isolation. He just won the Olympics as well (where again for a variety of reasons, the big 3 didn't hang with him).
Give the man his credit...excellent work!

Fed got embarrassed by Berdych...Murray handled Berdych with ease in a hurricane. It was his fifth grand slam final. Guy got it done against the defending champ. Jeeez some people

With Fed getting old and Rafa out of action, all slam wins will carry an apostrophe henceforth, even if the winner beats Djokovic in the final (#1 as per YTD).

He won fair and square it was well deserved. He managed to get over his baby tantrums finally, and put it together.
That being said, he does owe Mardy Fish some credit for pulling out of his match against Federer.
