View Full Version : Predict the 2013 Majors

Always fun to make these threads and look back and see how much things changed or stayed the same. 2013 will be particularly interesting for all the top four. Djokovic trying to prove he's still the man to beat, Fed trying to beat age, Rafa trying to come back from injury, and Murray trying to follow up on his first major.

AO: Murray
Historically his best major, and with the confidence boost from the USO I can see him taking this title
FO: Novak
More of a hopeful pick, but I can see Novak winning the FO. Nadal isn't going to win it forever
W: Nadal but I really want Murray to win this one the most
Probably the only slam that you could make an equal case for all four players. I think Nadal or Murray will take it.
USO: Novak
Novak has been the best USO player in the past few years

Cincy will officially usurp the French Open as a slam next year, courtesy of Tiriac.

IMO I think it's more a question of what shape Nadal will be in when he finally returns to the tour and whether it will be good enough to take on a Murray with improved confidence and momentum.

FO: Rafa (if healthy), if not, Roger- He's been great at RG, just not as good as that one Spanish guy that's always on the other side of the net. No Rafa= Mental uplift for Rogi, and hopefully, a RG title
WI: Fed or Murray- They were both amazing on grass this year, it may just come down to roof/no roof and if Roger can do well at RG
Cincy: Fed- Fast hard court, I'll be there to cheer him on, he can't lose ;)
USO: Fed/Djoko/Muzza/Rafa- big log-jam here. If Rafa gets to 100% and is slamless to this point, he'll be wanting this one. Murray is defending champ, so he has a shot. Djokovic is Djokovic, so he has a shot. If Federer has the year that I have him at right now (2 slams and Cincy), he could very well have too much momentum to be stopped, which I'd be fine with :)

Who says Nadal will even be in the draw, and why does it even matter? It's not like Andy can't beat him or anything. Andy has a very good chance of winning Wimby. He did make the final this year, and is a good grass court player.

I think there may be at least one new slam winner in 2013. Not sure who, but maybe Isner for the US Open, or someone new for Roland Garros, maybe Del Potro or someone unexpected. Even a complete out-of-nowhere like Nishikori could bag a slam.

LOL you are the last person who can mock anyones predictions. You were even predicting before the clay season Djokovic to sweep Nadal and win all the clay events including the French, predicting after Wimbledon Federer to sweep the rest of the season. 101 times out of 100 anything you predict is wrong, so most of all any Nadal fans should rejoice you picked him to win none, and all Murray fans should run with fear that you predicted him to win two. TW comedy at its finest, freaking monfed of all people making fun of someone elses predictions, hahahah.

PS- I predicted after Federer's draw came out this years Wimbledon was his best chance to win another major ever again and even made a thread about it. Then after Nadal went out I actually picked Federer to win it. I would be more then happy to show my Wimbledon thread and posts to prove this, since a simple search process would no doubt explode your tiny pea brain.

NadalAgassi

But no votes?

It was hard to predict the winners for next year. Now with a slam under his belt Murray has a fighting chance at winning at 3 of the 4 venues, excluding the French obviously. However Nadal, despite what the haters will say, is a major contender as a possible winner at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open if he returns healthy and fit. Djokovic is a major contender to win either the Australian or U.S Opens. Federer is still a potential winner of both Wimbledon and the U.S Open as well. I think Murray has a good shot to win atleast 1, but just wasnt sure of one specific one to pick him for.

I think Federer and Nadal are the two chief uncertainties. It's difficult to guess what kind of form either of them are going to be in next year, especially Nadal after his long lay-off.

Definitely true. Federer has won 1 of the last 11 slams so needless to say he is no lock for anything at this stage of his career, and he is only going to keep getting older. Nadal if he does not return to close to his previous fitness will not have it easy winning the French, considering Djokovic has started to push him on clay, let alone the other slams. Both will be bigger questions marks and x factors than Djokovic and Murray going into next year.

Federer has a chance, however slight, of winning all 4.

Nadal? With those knees? LMAO.
