Novak Djokovic will play an exhibition match against retired champion Gustavo Kuerten in Brazil in November.

Djokovic will play the three-time French Open champ to help inaugurate a tennis court in Rocinha shantytown, one of Latin America's largest slums.

Djokovic will also play a football friendly before a Brazilian league match. He will join Serbian countryman Dejan Petkovic, who starred for several Brazilian clubs in the last decade.

Kuerten was No. 1 in the world in 2000 and '01. He won the French Open in 1997, 2000 and '01. The 36-year-old Brazilian was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in July.

Kuerten is also expected to play Roger Federer in an exhibition in December.

Title is misleading - Djokovic is playing him in November...Fed, December.

When I first read this thread title, I envisioned a 2 vs. 1 Djoko/Fed vs. Kuerten match. That might actually make for an interesting match on clay. :)

The Guga backhand, it should be interesting to see how Federer deals with the topspin even if Guga isn't in his prime anymore. Hoping for a clay exhibition :)

I can't imagine how Kuerten could be very competitive after so many years away from the tour.

Another expo? Doesn't Fed needs rest when there's barely any during the tennis season? He's got the south american swing already.

Does anybody know if it's going to be televised?

Fed had his backhand lessons in 2004.

It will be in the same venue that the Brazil's open is hosted, the Ibirapuera's Arena, wich currently uses indoor clay (the only one of atp world tour to do so) as surface.

In the match against Djoker, they'll play in the middle of Rocinha, one of the most famous favelas of Rio de Janeiro. They are building a public clay court (the first in Brazil) and that match will be the open ceremony.
