Firstly, 99% of threats are nothing more than threats. Secondly, nobody is harder on their player than Federer fans are on Federer. Thirdly, most stalkers walk the line between love and hate for their subject.

Problem is, Federer never dominated a slam to the degree Rafa has (7 RG in 8 attempts). It's going to take WAY LONGER for Rafa to decline enough at RG to lose. He's going to be winning it into his 30s. Whereas Federer decline badly at the US Open, and has been far more beatable at Wimbledon (including back-to-back QF exits in 2010/2011, and only ONE Wimbledon title in the last 3 years). Rafa will be racking up RG titles for as long as he wants to.

I have seen more than one person threaten Nadal with bodily harm, wish injury on him,and wish him dead on here. I have also seen the same type of comments on other message boards as well; Fed's official message board included. Hopefully none of those nutters(and they know who they are)ever act out their comments.

And hopefully noone hurts Fed. I doubt they will, but people can be crazy these days.

No need for somebody else when Rafa is perfectly capable of doing that to himself:(

By David McDaid BBC Scotland in Shanghai

Roger Federer is surprised and disappointed at the level of attention given to a death threat he received.

The threat towards the Swiss world number one was posted online via one of his fans' websites.

"I'm a bit disappointed that it became a lot more public and came out in the press," Federer said.

"It was very small on a website, nothing very clear and concrete - people debating. To make that kind of big news is a bit surprising for me."

Federer is in China for the Shanghai Masters, where he is being chaperoned by a large security presence.

The local chief of police has also said he will boost the police presence around the ATP event at the Qi Zhing tennis centre.

Federer revealed that he first learned of the threat around 10 days ago, and stressed that it had no bearing on the decision of his wife and children not to travel to Shanghai with him.

"I don't want to talk too much about it." Federer added.

"I've felt very safe here, the authorities have been wonderful, the government has been very supportive and I've felt great since I've been here.

"Obviously it's been a different type of preparation and it's a little bit of a distraction - there's no doubt about it.

"You have to be aware of what's happening around about you but that is the case anywhere today with my fame and all that stuff.

"But it's been fine. I'm happy I'm here and I feel I'll have a good preparation to start on Wednesday or Thursday."

我打算去刺杀费德勒

- This means "I plan to go and kill Federer".

“10月6号我打算去行刺费德勒,为网坛除害。” - On the 6th of October I plan to go and kill Federer. He is a pest in tennis circles.

According to the article the guys online name is 蓝猫神教教主07 - which roughly translates as "Blue Cat God 07". He posted the threat on a Chinese message board for Federer.

The rest of the article just talks about Federer coming to Shanghai for the Shanghai masters, and the security and so on.

If people are interested I can translate the whole thing, but it doesn't say much that you don't already know.

Sorry, just to add, I read the rest of the article carefully. It was originally reported by a user called Scarlett on the 2nd of October. She reported to the official Federer fan club, fellow fans did a human flesh search for the guy, which is how they found out who he is.

Yeah, he would be my first choice as well (honestly, some of the stuff the guy said about Fed and his daughters is quite simply sick).

Hard to say though, it could be any of our resident whackjobs with a phatological hatred for Fed like LOLville, the Dork Knight, ********* etc.

Of course, assuming said person (who sent Fed a death thread) is a poster here which I personally think is the case.

LMAO! :)

Yeah, I see you're still in the weak era. How is it going over there - still looking for Austrian princes to shoot down or what?
