Apologies mate - I had a quick look down the board and didn't see anything.

Incredible. Nadal looks to be winning 8+ titles at not only Roland Garros, Monte Carlo, Rome and Barcelona, but Acapulco too, assuming Nadal will play until at least age 32. And since he's playing more and more clay-court events, he might be able to win 8+ titles at Nice, Hamburg and other clay-court tournaments too. A fitting career for the most dominant player in tennis history.

Way to reaffirm dirtballer status by adding even more dirtball tournaments into his schedule. He'll lose there anyway, but he doesn't care because he's getting $$$$ to show up.

Yeah tell me who going to beat Nadal on clay. Especially a 500 where there is no Roger, Novak.

This is an interesting move for Rafa. I wonder how the rest of his schedule will look. Will he drop IW or Miami? Will he add other clay events? I look forward to seeing his schedule.

he won't lose (unless he just does not give the slightest crap at all) but I agree it's weird. It's like he's going back to 2005 where he won a crapload of minor titles on clay. If he adds more clay tournaments like 2005 it'll just seem he's after easy points.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about playing minor clay events. The 3 masters and RG and maybe one more clay title is a reasonable amount given the way the tour is structured. If Nadal went back to playing many clay events that would be easy point grabbing- why win a masters when you're sure of winning 3-4 500s on clay and getting more than a masters anyway. Not saying he willplay loads of clay titles, just wondering.

he would be out of his mind if he dropped a masters for some silly unimportant tournament like Acapulco

Nadal the natural dirtballer going back to what he does best. Only 4 non-clay Slams, 5 non-clay Masters, zero non-clay tournaments won in 2 years and counting and NEVER defended a non-clay title in his entire 10 year career. Nadal...the natural dirtballer. He can keep winning on his beloved clay but he'll never be as great as Sampras or Federer until he starts winning several more non-clay Slams. He has no chance in hell of ever winning a non-clay Masters by the looks of it. Nadal fluked the USO. Got a dream draw and a tired Djokovic in the final to secure the career Slam. No more non-clay Slams for Rafa. Dirtballer belongs on dirt.:)

Sorry, this is Bill Shmidt.

I'm not the biggest Rafa fan but respect him as a threat on any surface. Calling his US Open triumph a fluke is a low blow and simply inacurate. The guy was in form and out-physically played Nole. He also put on a great show in the 2011 final (even though he came up short to God Mode Nole)

Nadal is a pure player. He can and has won on every surface.

hardcourts are the most prevalent surface in big tournaments. it's not surprising Djokovic has won so many titles on it. How many clay events does he play a year, 3, 4? Two grass events? It makes sense he doesn't have many titles there.. but Nadal has come up far short on the most common surface for a guy who is considered one of the best.

Doesn't matter. According to the resident Tennis Warehouse Geniuses,if you can't win on ALL surfaces, then you are a one dimensional mug. ******* is not exempt from this Rule if Nadal isn't,no matter how many hardcourt tournaments there are compared to clay or grass. If anything,he's lucky he's a hardcourter,or else maybe he wouldn't have won as much since his best surface dominates the tour.

It also proves that each player has a surface that suits them best. It just so happens that *******'s best surface is the most prevalent while Nadal's isn't. Nadal has also been more successful outside of his best surface than ******* has been outside of his.

The "only" is superfluous. Only 17 players in open era have 4 slam titles total and only 14 players have 4 off clay slam titles (including Rafa). Only 12 players have more than 5 masters off clay (counting old masters). So Rafa is in pretty good company overall.

Most master titles on hard/carpet (open era):
1- McEnroe: 17
2- Agassi: 16
3- Federer: 15
4- Connors: 14 (87 titles total on the surface)
5- Lendl: 14 ((64)
6- Becker: 13
7- Sampras: 10 (51)
8- Djokovic: 10 (25)
9- Murray: 8
10- Edberg: 7 (34)
11- Chang: 7 (30)
12- Borg: 7 (28)
13- Roddick: 5 (22)
14- Safin: 5 (13)
15- Nadal: 5 (11)
16- Wilander: 5 (11)

Most slam titles on hard:
1- Federer: 9
2- Sanpras: 7
3- Agassi: 6
4- Lendl: 5
5- McEnroe: 4 (65 titles total on hard/carpet)
6- Djokovic: 4 (25)
7- Connors: 3 (87)
8- Becker: 3 (42)
9- Edberg: 2 (34)
10- Courier: 2 (18)
11- Safin: 2 (13)
12- Nadal: 2 (11)
13- Wilander: 2 (11)
14- Rafter: 2 (7)

Most masters on clay:
1- Nadal: 16
2- Borg: 8 (30 clay titles)
3- Lendl: 8 (28)
4- Vilas: 7 (46)
5- Nastase: 7 (31)
6- Muster: 6 (40)
7- Federer: 6 (10)
8- Orantes: 5
9- Kuerten: 4 (14)
10- Medvedev: 4 (9)
11- Wilander: 3 (20)
12- Connors: 3 (13)
13- Ferrero: 3 (13)
14- Rios: 3 (9)
15- Djokovic: 3 (7)

Most slams on clay:
1- Nadal: 7
2- Borg: 6
3- Lendl: 3
4- Wilander: 3
5- Kuerten: 3
6- Vilas: 2
7- Bruguera: 2
8- Courier: 2 (5)
9- Kodes: 2 (5)

At least Rafa leads in both categories on clay. Also Nadal and Wilander are the only players in open era who won more than 1 slam on all 3 surfaces: hard, clay and grass. And of course Laver, Agassi, Fed and Nadal are the only 4 with all 4 slams, Agassi and Nadal the only 2 with the golden slam.
