I thought it would be interesting to compare the winning percentages of the greatest players in big matches (Grand Slam quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals).

Federer - 73-21 77.66%
Sampras - 55-15 78.57%
Borg - 44-10 81.48%
Nadal - 46-12 79.31%
Connors - 54-33 62.07%
Lendl - 55-26 67.90%
Agassi - 49-28 63.64%
McEnroe - 37-19 66.07%
Edberg - 36-20 64.29%
Djokovic - 31-17 64.58%
Becker 34-17 66.67%

Federer had 13 of his losses to Nadal and Djokovic or 61.90% of all big matches to two players.

Borg had 6 of his losses to McEnroe and Connors or 60% of all big matches to two players.

No other players had losses to just two players account for 60% or more of their total losses in Grand Slam quarterfinals/semifinals/finals.

I guess it's one way of looking at it, but surely every match for these top players is a big match in the majors?

If Alejandro Falla had served out that match against Fed at Wimbledon 2 years ago, that would have been devastating

Yes, also Bennetau this year, that was a hardest match for Fed.
