What do you think of this guy? Goes and crushes granollers 0 and 2....wins washington atp 500 against tommy haas...Kills some guys on tour and then loses easily to the top guys and some mugs....Goes 5 sets in every match he can just for the sake of it....Any thoughts on him? His potential? top 10 kinda guy maybe?

He's been growing on me slowly. I think he's going to keep rising...maybe just still sorting out his mental game.

Dolgopolov looks like Hingis! Haha! He has really bad acne scarred skin too. He is too inconsistent to really challenge for anything big, I think.

don't think so. looks like his 'blind' game play and consistencies will never change. it's just his way.

He is a weird one. I still haven't made my mind up on him.

His matches can be pretty entertaining. I read that he has some kind of disorder that causes fatigue. I just hope he is able to play well. I love his match against Tomic at this year's AO.

I love watching the guy play. I think it's mostly because his service motion is similar to mine.

Doubtful he'll break top 10. But I think if he went on a run, he could make a GS semi.

The dude is crazy skilled and totally not serious about his career. If he ever gets serious, watch out. Might never happen though. Unfortunately his coach is not a "slave driver" type, so will be no help there...

I really hope he will find a good consistency during an entire year...he is so damned skilled! I'm sure that i'll become a great tennis player if he'll reach his equilibrium

Love the way he plays. I become a huge fan of almost any unorthodox player lol. Serve is quick, BH slice and topspin shots are also quite odd. What's not to love? :p

He reminds me of Rios a bit.Great hands, mad skill set..also little bit of a loose cannon...and I am really curious as to how coachable he is. He has no wins so far against the top 4 and only a couple sets, because the type of game he has does not work against top guys. They figure him out sooner or later.
I do like watching the guy though...that side spin backhand slice of his is worth the price of admission.

I don't see him in the top ten for a while.

He should be most people's favorite player. I love him. Hitchiness runs abundantly in Dog's game. Like most of us. I think his coach smokes while they're hitting together...like on court. True throwback. Love it!

He's a top 10 player, I think. I think he can win a slam because he has fun out there and isn't afraid to go for his shots in tight spots.

His problem, IMHO, is his 2nd serve. Djoker & others can easily crush it. He sometimes slices at the wrong times. He seems to enjoy his life outside of tennis with his rapping & etc. Maybe he has to be more focused & serious? Maybe being serious like Sampras was would ruin his game. I don't know.

He's the most exciting player to watch right now when he's on. I'm shocked by the pace he can generate and it's good to have a guy with weird strokes in the mix. :-)

He certainly frustrates Djokovic when they play.

not nearly as consistent as rios was (for a short time) though. I think he will become more of a new santoro with occasional upsets but no big runs.

He is the new Stephanek. Will make stints in the top 10, though stints may be as short as a few weeks and as long as a year.

He'll probably hover between 8-15 for the next 3-5 years.

Fantastic player, a delight to watch and a funny guy to boot.
Most definitely my favourite among the 'upcoming guys', along with Goffin, both of them being a breath of fresh air amongst all of the never-tiring-work-horses and servebots of this current generation.

Pretty fun player, but doesn't quite have the power and consistency to get to the top and win Slams. He might sneak into the top 10 for a little bit like Blake or Almagro or those sorts of guys, but I don't think he'll be a mainstay in the top 10 like Ferrer.

He is to Rios as Dmitrov is to bFederer. Superficially the same but lacking the substance that made the original great. With Rios that substance was his incredible consistency off the ground.

Why compare Rios and Dolgopolov?
Except their haircut, they have not much in common!

They play exactly alike, their strokes and tactics are the same. Dolgopolov's father coached Rios and Dolgopolov played with Rios as a child.

i don't believe their games are very similar at all. rios was a brilliant point constructor, solid from the baseline with incredible ball control. dolgopolov basically pulls the trigger indiscriminately within four or five strokes. i think he has a ton of talent by the way, i mean a ton, i believe he could be top 5 if he managed his game more effectively, but i don't think that is likely. he is one of the better athletes on tour with regards to speed, reaction time, coordination etc. but tactically, he and rios are cut from a different cloth.

love the way he plays... isn't what's holding him back some medical condition? i thought i read somewhere that he was struggling with his health...

i love some of the angles he gets and the fact that he isn't afraid to come in on short balls and end up at the net.

guy has skillz...

Hmmm, I did not know that. This is an interesting information!
However, their serve is very different, as well as their backhand slice. The tactic, ok, similar; but not the shots!

This part of the draw is riddled with my favorite players. The return of Stepanek, Comrade Youzhny, Jarrko the Overachiever, Dog, Career-Year Cilic... kind of adds some solace to the terrible news that just befell upon my boy, Ivo. Anyway, no player on the tour is more of a joy to watch these days than Dolgopolov. But, do not sleep on Cilic in 2013. My man is primed.

The only thing him and Rios have is that wow factor where you feel compeled to watch them to try and figure them out. Other than that they are nothing alike. They move different, they hit different, tactically play different, mental outlook is different etc. etc.

He is pretty unique though and I like watching him. He plays a bit like a hack and his backhand is lousy but he is interesting. His legs have compression springs in them....I swear to god. He looks like a kangaroo out there in fast forward when hes running around the court. Fun to watch.

Completely enjoyable match.
