Yes. A heavier racquet balanced head-light, such as the MP Tour 1, actually allows you to impart more force (F=ma) and momentum (P=mv) on the ball. Swing faster while using your whole body and any opponent using a sub-tence ounce racquet will feel their racquet vibrate in their hands.

Remember that twenty to thirty years ago teens used fifteen ounce sticks.

Yeah, the MP Tour-1 is a great racquet. I bought one when I was 13! I'll help you improve your stokes a lot faster than with a tweener or the like.
My suggestion is to switch the original grip to a leather with this racquet. It'll help change the balance from 6pt hl to 8pt hl. I just wished I had done this sooner with my Tour-1, because it feels so much better balanced now!

How anyone can think racquets these days are heavy is beyond me! I felt a mate of mine's racquet which is 9.5oz and it felt like a piece of paper. Rediculous in my opinion. The shock waves going through to his arm must be horrendous.

So the Mp Tour 1 will be brilliant for me as a few of other ppl my age have bought this racket and have no trouble over the weight......what grip would u recomend for me for the racket??

go for leather, volkl is good. im 14 and have my t10gen2mp at 12.6 oz and will be comign across a pro custom lm instinct which will weight the same. the weight can be a problem if you arent big at all hough. and leather will add weight

I used to play with the mp-tour XF and it was a great racquet, i liked it better than the mp-tour 1. just for the longer grip for my 2 handed bckhand, and seemed more maneuverable.

No, I don't think it's very heavy. It will benefit your game giving you more power and stability.
When I was your age I played with a Rossignol Strato (wood) 405g, 2pts head light. Sampras said that he is going to teach his kid with a small wooden racquet because that way he's going to learn better.
