Lately, I'm struggling to get some match confidence. After 2 years at my local community college, I want to play college tennis. I know I have time, but since all my friends moved away, I have very little to choose from in practice partners. It really hurts me in tournaments, because I'm not getting all the practice I need. My game is on a downward slide. Players I routinely beat 6-1,6-1 are catching up with me. I know they have improved, but I also know that I'm not playing to my potential. Now, I'm trying get more practice and playing alot more ping pong for many reasons. It helps me compete and have fun. Plus, I think it will add to my coordination. I know that there's still good tennis in me;however, I've never been in great shape. I'm at 6'0, 235lb. I definitely am not all fat. My friend who is about the same height as me is only at 205, but he wears bigger pants and shirts. He has a huge gut and I don't. But I still need to get my body fat down. Do you think that getting in great shape could help me get back to where I was, or even better. I know posses alot of abilities over my friends. For instance I have the bigger serve of us all. I can consistantly serve over 105-110. My groundstrokes are harder than theirs and I have the ability to hit outright winners, when I'm on and confident. Anyway, I know practice makes perfect, but I'm sure fitness could help me get back to head and shoulders above my friends once again. So I plan on taking a 2 week break from tennis and train hard! Then I will pick up tennis again and keep training, that way I'm fresh. Is this a good strategy?
