Why wilson do make only one color?
They know tha white is getting dirty pretty fast... B.....D!
I hope they will get darker color like black, brown, purple.

Currently using super grap as it gets better as it ages.

I agree with you 100%. I like using all but the black one (they're not as grippy). The colored ones are basically white ones with dye. After each session, I towel the grip off with Simple Green to get rid of the dirt and grime. When it dries, it's almost as tacky as when it's new.

i saw that the yonex super grap is shock absorbent and the wilson isnt btut he prob is the yonex is 2 mm more thick

donnyz89
09-30-2005, 07:47 PM
Couple I have tried:

Prince No Sweat: Clothy feeling, not tacky at all... must be good at absorbing sweat though, feels kinda like napkins.

Wilson Pro: Excellent grip, tacky and absorbant.

Yonex Supergrap: Same as Wilson, more colors and have a slightly different feel but as good and colors give it the edge over wilson.

Tourna Orig: Decent grip, not durable after absorbing enough sweat but relatively durable and comfortable.

Tourna Tacky: eh...... not super tacky, not super absorbant... average on all departments. Its a grip, but not a good enough grip to pay for.

Gamma Supreme: Good grip, tacky feel but different from the yonex/wilson feel. Feels slightly thicker but still very tacky and comfortable. very good grip.

Wilson Cushion Aire Super Tack Overgrip....now replaced by Wilson X-Tra Tack!!!

TripleB

I thought x-tra Tack was god awful. If you sweat just a little bit , it was like tryiing to grip a a popsicle. I broke one of my frames cuz it slipped outa my hand on a serve. Maybe it would be good if you like dont sweat at all because it is less absorbent than plasic wrap.

Sixpointone

Actually Doriancito, it is not so much a case of people recognizing a quality product, rather it is a matter of opinion.

I can prefer Vanilla Ice Cream over Strawberry Ice Cream. That does not make it better. Rather it just makes it better for me.

In my case I prefer the Wilson Pro Overgrip over the Yonex Super Grap. It is not a matter of quality, nor a matter or trying, as I have used both. Simply it is not matter of right or wrong, good or bad, so much so as it is a matter of preference.

monologuist
10-18-2005, 09:52 AM
Yonex Super Grap is reversible....when mine wears out, I take it off and re wrap it upside down...amazingly, the other side lasts almost twice as long as the "top" side...so I basically get 3 overgrips worth of life in one roll.....never tried the Wilson Pro...is it also reversible?

rfederer32291
10-18-2005, 10:57 AM

10-18-2005, 11:26 AM
If the wilson pro came in a variety of colours, I would use it over the yonex supergrap. They both feel pretty much the same to me, so its only a matter of colour. And white gets dirty too soon.

then id say cause the wilson is cheaper

i agree, they dont want to spend the extra $ when there is practically no difference, and the majority of the people use wilson pro overgrip.

Sixpointone
10-18-2005, 02:14 PM
Trust me when I say that the reason I prefer Wilson has nothing to do with saving a dollar here or there. Sure, that might be true for some, but I am certain that is not 100% the case across the board.

Simply put, put dollars and cents aside, and I am still spending my money on Wilson.

ive noticed something interesting on my yonex......you get a wet towel and scrape it along the grip and the dirt goes away, i tried that with the wilson, the dirt did go away but not as much as the yonex and i saw that the wilson when i scraped the towel the grip got like if it was older, small parts falling off

timmyboy
10-18-2005, 06:17 PM
they feel very similar though. saving the dollar on the wilson is perhaps the only reasonable comparison. if ur buying wilson for the brand... ur wrong.

note: wilson isn't the very best in tennis.

Doriancito,

Although that is somewhat interesting about your using a towel on the Yonex, and although I am certain that you prefer that Grip, I standby the fact that I am 100% satisfied with my Wilson Pro Overgrip.

Having said that, the simple conclusion is that each of us have found an Overgrip that we like. And that is what is most important.

Are there any overgrips that don't give blisters? My hand is hurting me.

This poll wasn't much of a surprise. I figured Wilson Pro, Yonex Grap and Tournagrip would be the top 3. The only surprise was the margin between Wilson and Yonex since most say they feel the same.

i first used tourna-grip and then i switched to the wilson pro. when i first used tourna-grip i loved it and thought nothing would be better, then i used wilson pro and i love this grip now and i think nothing could be better. but~ following this trend i think when i try yonex i'll love that grip even more. ^^ besides i'm bias against wilson, i just use it now because i can't find anything better. (ps. i'm bias against wilson because my brother uses it and i'm in a forever rivery against my brother.^^)

LaserFibre is one of the best... after using today I think it is best for sweaty hands. I used to replace every overgrip in 1 hour but this one last me more than 1 match. It is thick compare to babolat VS grip and wilson pro or Yonex..it takes sweat like anything and yet you feel it is new...just too good.. hope it will stay like this so I can save some $$$ on overgrips...

I think Yonex Super Grap and Wilson Pro Overgrip feels the same, only differnce is Super Grap is thicker. I still think Wilson Pro Overgrip has the edge over Super Grap.

every one should try the yonex and wilson pro, and realize the yonex tackyness lasts more

I have used Babolat VS overgrip and Pro team. But LaserFibre TourFit OverGrips is BEST means BEST for very sweaty hands.. no question about it..

i just tried yonex and i found out that i like wilson a lot better. wilson is slightly more tacky than yonex and with wilson i can feel the base grip(base grip? is that right?) better than i could with yonex.

yonex is a good grip, but i like wilson better.

Looks like the winner is the dirty white Wilson. Just think how much Wilson would sell if they made this grip in colors.

Do all of you have vote?
Wilson is the winner, Yonex deserve a try, tourna grip is has-been.

I actually like Luxilon overgrip. It came out recently here in Hong Kong. It's really tacky and quite soft.

Yonex supergrap is my favorite. Wilson overgrip is sold almost anywhere and probably cheaper in general so the poll might favor Wilson but I would suggest you try the Yonex as well like I did. Yonex grip is really great!

The best overgrip is without a doubt: Tourna Grip. The best grip for sweaty hand and the best tackyness.

Still Babolat VS grip and Pro team are best for me (sweaty hands all the time and heavy). According babolat website they are dry and 160% to 195% sweat absorbency, which is not there in wilson pro or Yonex...period from my side...
I have to agree with you about the absorbancy and dryness, really incredible grip.. but i could never get used to the feel and i'm kinda glad i replaced my last one a couple of days ago. it was just a tad too thick and the grip never really felt like i could twist the racquet 180 degrees and get the same feel so i didn't like. otherwise, a great grip if you like that grooved feeling. Tournagrip/Wilson Pro because I can use them 3-4 times and still get about 100-80% quality out of each one :D
