View Full Version : Which parts of your game resemble which pros?

By choice or not, I find that each segment of my game reflects a pro that I know. I'll start first:

Attitude/style: Ginepri

Serve: Nadal
Forehand: Nadal
Backhand: Blake's OHB
Footwork: Ginepri
Volleying: Dent (Yeah I wish!)

If I'm missing a heading, add on in. :p

Talent

Attitude: Roddick
Serve: Hewitt, Thomas Johansson, Grosjean
Forehand: Verdasco, Moya, Gasquet
Backhand: Agassi/Safin
Footwork: Malisse
Volleying: Blake

These are partly assumptions. I enjoy watching all pros, but I develop my own game on my own terms. Of course, most likely if you are on these boards your results don't actually resemble that of a pro's.

Attitude: Safin
Serve: Sampras
Forehand: Safin
Backhand: Coria
Footwork: Federer
Volleying: Federer/Safin

The above is based on what people have told me, or whom I try to emulate.

This very tough one to answer.
I dunno which parts resemble which pro. The other way round is more true. My game has been copied by many pro's to good use. :P
I have seen Roger Federer stuck with awe on my Forehand. Andre Agassi says he owes his backhand to me. Sampras said he improved a lot on his serve by practising with me. ..so I really dunno.

Just kidding...

Attitude: Vertical (mostly)
Serve: Chang (at the end of that French open where he couldn't serve overhand anymore)
Groundstrokes: John McEnroe
Footwork: The robot from Lost in Space
Volley: John McEnroe (gotta do something right)

I wonder what this all means...

I've been trying different service motion. The first:Nadal which is more physically demanding than the other but I serve very well with it 65% first serve in. The second:Federer, it's physically much less demanding and more smoother but my serve ain't going in.45%. BH:Agassi FH:Roddick Footwork : P-H Mathieu..... now of course I don't play half as well as them but It's helping my game. NTRP:4.5

I have this thing where if I watch a pro play for a while I start emulating certain shots. For example normally I won't hit a single ace in a two hour practice but one time I watched Roddick play for a while then I wen't off to practice. I hit 6 or 7 aces and a lot of service winners. Day after my serve was the same as it always has been. Normally I hit a 2hand backhand. After I watched this years French semi Henin-Hardenne against Sharapova I went out to hit. For the rest of the day I hit a onehand topspin backhand? It was better than my 2 hand aswell. It happened last friday as well. I hit my serve with the same motion as Ginepri. Does anyone else have this???

attitude: Blake
Serve: Ginepri (right now)
backhand: ------------
forehand: Blake
footwork: Federer (on a good day)
volleying: Roddick (needs some work)

I serve like Chela, volley like Roddick, hit forehands like Coria, backhands like Gaudio, and hit backspin dropshots like Coria once again. I need a lot of help! I don't want to serve like Chela or volley like Roddick! Help!

Err, if our game actually resembled the pros, we wouldn't be here. LOL. It's fun, though.

Attitude/style: MacEnroe (I approach, S&V a lot, get emotional)
Serve: Uh...I don't know, mine looks different. Maybe closest to Federer?
Forehand: Agassi
Backhand: Federer (I take it on the rise successfully, although I don't have those angles)
Footwork: Erm, most footwork is the same in pros, it's just how fast they do it.
Volleying: Sampras (my volleys, half volleys, low volleys are up to par, but I don't have those drop volleys, period)
