hehe, string tension retainer bags?

Strings lose tension in a bag or not.

All the bag does is help protect the string from the elements.

It does look cool taking a racket out of a bag. People gave lots of stares after i did this action, until i actually hit a ball! haha.

Yes it is probably cheaper to use a garbage bag. Less cool.

would a bin bag protect it from hot and cold like a tension retainer bag does

No plastic bags going to "protect" the racket string tension if you put it in the sun or extreme temperatures.
