I have a good 4.0 player who has asked me to technically assess his game in order to initiate positive changes.

One of the priorities is to sort his backhand out - it's more of a topspin flick! As he approaches point of contact he bends his right wrist (in the direction of the ball) so that at point of contact rather than the arm, wrist and racket being in one straight line the wrist jutts out and he seems to flick it.

Aside from showing him the correct form at contact any tips / advice to guide him through this change.

tape a ruler to his forarm/hand so it remains fixed. You could also do the whole string thing, where you tie a string to his racquet/arm to get the same effect.

If he makes this shot a wristy one, his timing has to be perfect otherwise the UEs will start coming. The majority of power should come from trunk rotation and relaxed arms, allowing you to generate considerable racquet speed into the shot. The wrists should add a little bit more power, but their role is mostly to control the amount of spin on the ball.
