I watched a challenger match today on tv. The player in the pic below is a 19 years old and currently ranked around #500 or 600. It seemed like he was using a Liquidmetal Radical mp. After the match was over, I went to a sports website to read some sports articles and found this pic. I don't know much about the LM Radical but the racquet in the pic looks like a paintjob doesn't it? when I was watching the match on tv, I said to myself "even though he is considered to be the next big thing in my country (he is sponsored by Samsung), he is low ranked so he must be using stock racquets with some lead tape" but I guess I was wrong. Even very row raked players use racquets with paintjobs?

Yes, even college players and juniors get paintjobs nowadays. So, if you're ranked in the top million or so, hey you'll likely get a paintjob! ;) LOL. Pretty soon even little old ladies that play doubles once a week will be getting granny stick paintjobs. :( LOL.

I wouldn't be surprised.
I talked with a player on a DI team a few months ago about service tossing. I looked at his racquet - I did not ask him if I could hold it - and I swore it was a LM Prestige paintjob. I didn't see the raised indentations of the TSC.

I think people are getting too paranoid about this paintjob stuff. Probably just manufacturing differences.

There are several models offered to such players.......including multiple 630cm 18/20 string pattern frames. The ones I have seen/own include a frame that's basically a ProTour, as well as one that's out of a mold very similar to the iPrestige 630. However, the actual graphite construction of the frame is anyone's guess.

Its PJ, When I was at the Open this year, EVERY one that used a LM Prestige had PJ's. It was Very Obvious when up close and personal. Kids and Adults Open alike. There's a college player on board here that has them too.

if they the racquet has the thick plastoc over the whole head its a old presitge...just painted to look like a modern one, because if ti wasnt they wouldnt put a prestige paintjob (red color)

DUH! thats what i mean all the pretiges, since the presitge line came out, its main characteristic is the thick plastic, so this must be an old prestige with a modern pretige paintjob because there wouldt be a point of having a normal head racquet and putting the plastic over and painting it as a Prestige, instead of doing all that work they would rather paint it as a liquidmetal radical or flexpoint radical

cmon now a paint job is a paint job, use the racquet that best fits you and you'll do fine, you think pro's and all these other players use each others racquets

Matchpoint. Just out of curiousity, were all the paintjobs alike (of the same racket of course)? In other words, were all the LM Prestiges painted alike?

The LM paintjobs all looked the same to me. I'm assuming some were originally the PC600 and some the i.prestige and what not. They're all the same mold anyways.
I'm trying to switch over to the prestige mid and don't really care which version I get but man the LM ones have the ridges which is just annoying to me as they serve no function but reduce airflow :( Aren't they supposed to come out with a new prestige soon?

This is not any Prestige! It's a 630 mold and the first 630 Prestige was the i. prestige. But the i. prestige didn't had a complete CAP grommet bumper like the stick in the pic. It's not a LM, that's clear. So it has to be a Pro Tour 630 which was also made with a CAP bumper.

That would be pretty poor quality control if some racquets come out with the LM ridges completely missing (smooth instead of raised). And isn't it an extraordinary coincidence that only ranked pros and juniors happen to unluckily get these "manufacturing defects", as I've never seen one that has smooth LM painted on in any store? ;) LOL.

FYI guys, Head is known to mix up their grommets on their "pro model"/painted 630cm frames. I once received 8 frames for a player that were sent directly from Austria to me that had grommets that didn't fit the frame. They were out of the iPrestige mold (model E57), but came with the standard 630 CAPs, which didn't fit at the throat. The A57, which is the same as the ProTour mold, can use both the iPrestige CAPs, as well as the traditional ones. In short, you can't go by just the grommets.

how much does a paintjob cost? and why wouldn't juniors just use the racquet they painted if they're not sponsored?
