Varies between practice, hitting with someone, or a tournament match. I'll go with tournament since that's the most.

Elbow brace (in case of elbow pain / early signs of tennis elbow)
Wrist Band (sweat)
Water/Gatorade
Overgrips
Vibration dampener (In case my rubber band breaks)
Medical Tape (great for taping up a bandaid over a blister)
Bandaids
Change of shirt

I don't carry a bag. I just show up with my rackets. I don't make much attempt to look good on the court, and I've never been organized enough to buy stuff in advance. Just get it as I need it, and the only thing I really need are my rackets.

(When I play in a tourney, I keep an extra set of clothes in my car.)

Best answer I ever heard was, after a bad call during a 3rd set tie-break, player wished he had packed his gat to settle that dispute. Obviously the set was over with that comment. Never saw that guy again, or his gat. Entertaining dubs for sure.

In addition to a lot of the things already mentioned, I carry an extra center net strap in case I end up playing on some public courts that don't have one. It was cheap and doesn't take up much room. I also made up some singles net sticks out of 3/4 PVC pipe that I use to make sure the net is a regulation height. I may sound like a little much, but no sense getting use to a low net down the line.

Are we done with the johnson swinging yet? Y all feeling better now boys?

If anyone cares I'm bringing a stringing machine to the courts. Fits nicely in my 3 racquets bag along with my Bolletieri hitting wall. I had to give up on the idea of bringing the ball machine as well. Didn't feel like investing in a 6 racquets bag.

I'm curious as to what other board members carry to the courts.

Do you have several matched rackets with strings at different tensions?

Do you bring just one racket?

Do you keep a wooden racket or a favorite "oldie" for practice or sentimental reasons?

Do you match the brand of frame you play with to your bag of choice?

Do you use different frames for different conditions or opponents?

Just wondering...

I carry 3 Wilson PS 85's (Chicago version) in my bag. All are strung at the same tension, all are matched to be 5pts HL, and all three weigh 376g). My racquets all feel alike, I'll switch when the string job loses too much tension. Nope, I don't match racquet brands with the same bag brand. If there were the case, I'd have to buy a lot of different bags.

I keep reels of string in my bag actually. Honestly, I don't know why. I pretty much throw all my tennis stuff in my bag, just to save room around my house. I also keep grommets and bumpers guards. ??? Don't ask!

Such as:

Hi All,

Instead of listing all of the things in my Tennis Bag, I decidely to keep this more brief, and only answer the questions asked in post one.

-----

Question: Do you have several matched rackets with strings at different tensions?

Answer: As far as for match play, I do have several matched Frames. In regards to Tension, I usually keep them they same. But depending I might add a small amount of Lead or String tighter or looser.

Question: Do you bring just one racket?

Answer: No. I usually have 2-3 of my Racquet with me. In addition I often carry a Frame I use for feeding, when we runs drills. In addition I usually have a Wooden Racquet with me as well.

Question: Do you keep a wooden racket or a favorite "oldie" for practice or sentimental reasons?

Answer: Yes, I usually do. I actually use it a solid amount, though clearly not nearly as often as I use my standard Racquet.

Question: Do you match the brand of frame you play with to your bag of choice?

Answer: Yes, I usually do. That could be attributed to my liking the Wilson Bags. As if I did not like the product, matching or not, I'd not use it.

Question: Do you use different frames for different conditions or opponents?

Answer: I prefer to keep things as consistent as possible. I use my main Frames for most all occasions. I use another Stick to feed with during drills. And as previously mentioned as times I'll hit with one of my Wood Racquets as well.

John

I am truly suprised by the number of people who appear take more than one TYPE of frame to the courts on any given day...........or do you mean to imply that you carry these various frames in your bag for CONVENIENCE, but only play one frame during each hitting session?

It seems to me it would be VERY difficult to groove your strokes while playing more than one frame on any given day.

it really depends... but on a tournament day.

2 Diablo Tour MP...
Fresh Shirts (usually 2 or 3)
Fresh pair of shorts assuming I'm already wearing one.
Fresh boxers (they get pretty wet)
Towel

Gatorade/Bottled Water. I also bring one of those big jugs gallon tanks...
Deodorant, Tape, Pen/paper, Extra USTA Card, Hot creme, over grip, sunblock when summer comes around, wristband, headband, sometimes balls...

shoes...

thats about it. nothing is wasted, I dont see the point of 6 different racquets or 5 vibe dampeners and 10 overgrips and STRINGS?? I mean, are you just trying to showoff your tennis collection? why dont people that bring string packages bring their machine too? its not like if you broke a string during a match, you can just fill it in.

I just got a new bag, and it is a 3 pack, so it has only one main compartment, and then a tiny little compartment that I don't use.

In it I have -

2 rackets
Random tennis balls that I take from practice for matches (they are nice to have when I show up at practice and there are about 20 people there waiting for balls, then I have balls to use)
A letter for tennis pictures (we take them on monday)
2 water bottles

And that is all I need.

Man I'm just so glad I see people carrying more than one brand of racquet. I thought I was the only one :) In the 80's and when I use to play tournaments, when I saw a guy with 2 different brands of racquets I always assumed before we started playing that I'd get a W. I think today it's a mistake to fall in love with a racquet because they're here today gone tomorrow, only one racquet I'll never give up.

I usuallly bring my bag but leave it in the car. I just whip out a couple of racquets (HEAD LM Prestiges Mid) with my water bottle/towel and hit the court, usually I'm playing mens league so I don't even need balls.

However, if I'm playing a tourney, that's a different story.
Equipment
Racquets : 4 of the same model 2 at 59lbs and 2 at 55lbs
A couple of overgrips, sunblock, ibuprofin, firstaid kit, thermal water bottle.
Apparel
2 spare shirts, extra socks, wrist bands, towels and a cap.
Food
2 Bananas, trail mix, 2 bottles of 1:1 diluted gatorade and a light lunch if one
isn't provided.

There you go, enough to keep you going for the entire day. Remember not to eat an entire Banana all at once. A few bites every few changeovers is enough to keep your Potassium up. Also, drink your gatorade sparingly along with your water. A sip here and there is all you need. Keep hydrated!

No I bring 3.
no

I use one of those head racquet cover bags.
One Head Liquidmetal Prestige MP (I string full poly so I don't need a backup. Technically it's not in my bag because if I am not riding my bike to get to a court then i'm just carrying in my hand. If i am then I take 2 racquet cover bags.)
Four waterbottles and one Gatorade bottle
Cell phone
iPod
Hat
and a can or two of balls (except when I am going to our school team's practice)
Man, you guys bring a LOT!
