When I'm in a rally I swear I'm pretty consistent but when I get into a match, I always tend to hit the ball into the ground....... or hit a floater. Why is this? Do you think maybe it has to do with match mentallity?

Definatly nerves. I'm the same way. I rally and hit very solid shots both forehand and backhand then once someone says lets play a match I stop hitting with abandon and tighten up. I even have no problem playing 11s.
It's just when you inject the serve (and I used to have a pretty decent serve) into the equation, the pace changes and the routine changes and I change, but not for the better.

Hitting balls on the run and off balance in matches is always more difficult than rallying back and forth when it doesn't matter.
