View Full Version : What does typing this sequence in my computer do?
I had my boss' friend come into my office and type this on my comp.
He said it was a test to see if the "networking" of all the computers was working, but now I'm a bit skeptical.
Anyone help?
This is what he did:
Start
Run
Cmd (enter)
Ipconfig (enter)
(something else I forget) (enter)
www.yahoo.ca (enter)

Perhaps you mean "ping www.yahoo.ca"? If that's that case he was probably testing to see if the internet connection was up.

Nothing to worry about, he's just trying to find out your ip address and checking if it has internet connection.

yeah, run ipconfig just displays the networking info, subnets, ip addys.. etc.
pinging something just makes sure you're connected to that pc/something
Yes, "ping" was there too!!!
Thanks guys.
