Just playin:mrgreen: there are no biotches here. but seriously I was watching Troy on the telly today and seeing coins being placed on the eyes of the deceased inspired me to make a post. Now I am going to do a search on google but I would also just like to see if any of you guys have info.

Basically if you know anything about how the practice was started, who started it or umm...you know just feel free to give any info you have on the subject no matter how long it is...don't mind reading a long post now and then:)

Thanks

Never heard of that. Wouldn't that inspire people to rob the dead though...I mean, it's just laying there...

umm i dont know because i dont think they would just leave the bodies out like that...in Troy, when they did it, they burned the bodies aftewards...I did do a quick google search and it said one culture...I guess the Maygars...I believe it was spelled like that (not Mayans) and the purpose was because the relatives of the deceased thought they could see their own deaths in the eyes of their dead loved one so they placed silver on the eyes so they would not see the visions of death i guess...but I think the Greeks did it to pay the boatman to take the deceased across the river styx to hades or something like that...

anyway i don't know if there's much really to discuss about it but still curious

thanks again:)
