Ascis Gel Invasion... Removing the Shroud!!!

Hello,
I am long time Asics tennis shoe user and am looking into trying out the gel invasion. I know that comfort and durability are the most important factors, but in my opinion that shroud over the laces in ridiculous. I was wondering if that shroud could be removed from the shoe? Have any of you tried this with the invasion? Please, do tell :idea:

I agree about the looks of the invasion. I know a guy who wears them and did in fact remove the laces cover with a razor blade. The shoes look totally different (in a good way). They actually look like they came this way.

Yeah if you're willing to use a knife on your shoes. It's a shame they had to include the shrould, it's one of the best and most comfortable tennis shoes I've tried.
