Federer is trying to join Laver and Sampras as the only player to win three straight slams in open era.

Trying to tie McEnroe & Wilander with 7 slams.

Baghdatis is trying to become the lowest ranked player ever to beat a world #1 in a GS final.

Trying to be first to beat four top 10 players in a slam since Wilander in '82.

Trying to become lowest ranked slam winner since Ivanisevic in '01.

You forgot to mention Aussie is the first leg of the Grand Slam, which could help define Federer as greatest ever.

I don't think Baghdatis is trying to become anything right now. I'm sure he's in such a cloud that all he can think is WOW...I'm in a final in a Slam against Roger Federer. His quest for a place in history will come later, if ever.

Marcos appears to be "handling" the pressures pretty well. I'm looking forward to an exciting match.

Roger, in four....

I hope it's a good match...Cyprus deserves it (pop. 750,000)

Ella Marcos. Baghdatis has made this year's AO a lot of fun..........

Yes. It's a pleasure to see some real *joy* on the court. Rafa and Marcos both contribute to this....

Anyone know what Federer's grandslam pace is in relation to Sampras? That would be good to know.

read this on foxsports:

Federer maintained his perfect record in seven major finals. And, at 24, he's halfway toward Pete Sampras' all-time record of 14 Grand Slam titles. Sampras also was 24 when he won his seventh.

Sampras won his seventh major in his 22nd try. Federer was playing in his 27th. Their birthdays are four days apart, and they won their seventh Grand Slam titles at the same age.
