I have 4 demos coming in Monday (supposed to be last Friday but delayed because of 11 inches of snow). I checked the Weather Channel last night before I went to bed to see what the weather was going to be like for this week. Sunny and in the 70s every day except Tuesday. I wake up this morning and check it.....rain every day except Monday and Thursday with highs in the 50s. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
How can it change so much in 10 hours?!?!?!?

cruel fact of life(at the age of 16 no less)......when you especially want to play tennis, it will always be wet or cold......

it applies for all outdoor sports. and even though i'm from california, the weather lately has been wet and cold (although this past weekend was gorgeous).

Benjamin,
Don't feel bad, man. We got 18-20 inches of snow in that storm, so it's been a mess. I know someone is going to come on here and start talking about snow up north, but we don't get much snow that often, so we don't have the same number of snow plows and whatnot.
Did they cancel school on Thursday for you guys? They didn't cancel school for us until after the day had started, and were trying to figure out how to get everyone home. The joys of stranded school buses....

The school I teach at went until 10:00 on Thursday before the students were sent home.
What made me upset was that the demos got delayed a day in South Carolina because of the snow. But if they would have gotten here on time, Saturday and Sunday were two perfect days of tennis weather. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I just checked on them and for some reason they left Greensboro at 2:00 Saturday morning and didn't get to my hometown until 8:00 this morning because of adverse weather conditions. There wasn't even any snow left on the roads by Saturday morning.
So, who knows when I'll get my demos.

Has this been a wet spring or what? All of the leagues are behind and doing the makeup match thing.
About 76 degrees and humid today.

dave, i have a match tomorrow and the dreaded weather channel is calling for a 30% chance of rain. the local radio station is calling for 70. so, i dont know what to expect. and yes, it has been raining for about two months straight.

It's really the actual weather you hate at the moment, not the weather channel. Weather does change and from my experience with weather.com, they change it on the website as the front changes in reality.

@wright,
No, actually it is the Weather Channel. They gave me false hope that there would be fantastic weather for my week of demoing. If they can't predict more than 2 days in advance correctly, then they shouldn't predict more than 2 days in advance!

For all you SF Bay Area players, after checking out the wet courts Monday I finally went and joined a gym. I'm guessing it will now be sunny for the rest of the year.

guess what. i didnt even rain today. but the match was still canceled because the other team didnt want to drive an 1and a half for there to be a rainout. we still had practice and the gale force winds were kicking. this LA weather is gettin on my nerves.

I don't pay much attention to the Weather Channel's forecast because it's very inaccurate. But I do pay attention to the local radar, I always check it out before playing. If there is nothing showing on radar, I know I'm good for 2-3 hours. It hasn't failed me yet. 8) Although I live in Pittsburgh, I play as often as I can outdoors year round. If it's above freezing, and the courts are dry, I'm out there. :D

That means you get in about 30 days a year of clear, non-freezing weather-and about 19 of those days are overcast! Where do you play-Schenley Park? Mellon? Chatham College? Are the Frick Park clay courts still a mess? That's an example of how a city, through total neglect, absolutely destroyed a beautiful public tennis facility.

Phil, I'm part of the Highland Park Tennis Mafia (Stanton Ave.). Best courts in town for pick-up games. Just show up in the afternoon, I'm almost always there. BTW, my real name is Jim, I'll be the tall, good-looking guy.

Pushmaster, I don't get into the Burg very often these days, but when I'm there I'm always looking for a game, and Schenley is usually empty. I'll have to check out Highland Park next time I'm there and look for the short squat guy named Jim;-)
