#1 easily, she looks a lot more natural than #2, at least in that picture. #2 looks like she's been painted with bronze.

Anna will always be the standard to which others are measured on looks. Maria is also too tall for most men.

Safe to say I'd be happy with either decision. No regrets :)

Tough choice, but I'd take the one who hasn't banged her way through half the professional hockey and professional music worlds.

Anna is much more beautiful. Still don't like Maria's looks.

Besides, Picture one does not look like Maria at all. Some creepy eyes.

maria looks better. maria has reached a much higher level of fame than anna. anna's picture looks totally fake, but at least her tattoos aren't showing. anna is sort of the paris hilton of tennis. i wouldn't be surprised if a videotape surfaces.

I think both pictures are great. At least these women are athletes and their bodies are in such good shape through a healthy lifestyle and serious workouts rather than starvation and drugs!

Full marks for both.

I think I need another link to a set of Anna's photos to make a decision :) I think making a decision based on just 2 pics is premature. :p A further look at a lot more photos is necessary to make an informed and educated decision.

I choose not to vote because I don't think the test is fair because that particular pose favours one of soviettes over the other.

Geez, this is a tennis board afterall, can we just stick to the topic? Do you think this is sexual discrimination to take this female players as sex objects?

Anyway, back to the op, I choose #1.

Yes, and this is precisely why such marketing of famous persons as sexual objects is unhealthy for teenage girls. It sets an unattainable standard (unattainable largely due to the airbrushing and other artificial effects).

The majority of anorexia cases among young females is as a direct result of this type of thing. The young kid sees the amount of attention and drooling that this gets, and thinks herself worthless by comparison. Radical steps are then taken by the youngster to mimmic the 'star', with the first step being to lose weight. And it snowballs from there.

So, while this type of objectifying of females might seem like 'harmless fun', it actually isn't at all, as it has serious repercussions on much of the young, insecure, and highly influenceable female population.

I, for one, feel that ensuring a young person's well-being (both physically and psychologically) is far more important than is ensuring that horny males get a little thrill.
We should care about our children more.

I see your point with models like Kate Moss or celebrities like the Olsen twins and Lindsay Lohan. But as a user posted above, Maria, Anna and many of the SI girls are FIT not skeletons. You can only get bodacious bodies like these babes by toning those muscles and eating right - and enough.

The same goes for guys. Chicks really dig the muscles of Vin Diesel or The Rock. We guys see this and hit the gym to get bodies like that.

So my message to you guys out there. Let's start touting the FIT girls out there, enough of the skinny stuff!

You're right Deucey - there's nothing more satisfying than completing two miles and a frozen vanilla yogurt for dinner after a "fat" comment. I'm sure even the skinniest have been exposed to such comments at some point. But it doesn't necessarily mean girls will self destruct with every glance at another gorgeous girl, like Anna or Maria. Yeah, I hit the gym when things aren't feeling as tight as I want them to be but it's not because I'm trying to attain an unrealistic, absolutely perfect body.

Listen, I don't need muscles to impress chicks. All I gotta do is show them my woodie and its game set and match. They would love to see my Dunlop Maxply.

You should do some research into how the female teenage mind works.
Powers of deduction and logic aren't exactly it's primary element.

raftermania
02-22-2006, 12:38 AM
Shooter, I'd love to play with your woodie some day, I've never felt one before. Is it long enough for two hands? I don't play comfortably with the short ones.

Deuce, if the problem is with the "female teenage mind" then material like this is not the concern, but rather how teenage girls interpret it.

Deuce, if the problem is with the "female teenage mind" then material like this is not the concern, but rather how teenage girls interpret it.
Well, no, not exactly.

The real problem is with viewing females as only having value if they are physically attractive. This is the overwhelming message being sent in photos such as the ones you posted, as well as with the theme of your poll here.

Absolutely no-one is concerned with the intellectual or emotional capacities of Kournikova or Sharapova - that's a given.

Young girls (not only teenagers, but pre-teens, as well) interpret this - CORRECTLY - as being that what matters most to males is the female's physical attributes, and that emotional and intellectual qualities are hugely unimportant. Young boys, as well, interpret it the same way, which shapes the way they both view and treat females.

The problem here is that real self-esteem is not found in physical attentions, or with any such uni-dimensional, superficial 'admiration'. Real self-esteem requires something of vastly more dimensions than the one dimension of physical attractiveness. Young girls, being inherently vulnerable and insecure, latch on to anything which promises them attention and 'affection' - only to learn later that such attentions are one-dimensional and hollow, and don't begin to fill the voids within them. And this causes feelings of worthlessness, etc.

It's far too involved and complex an issue to delve deeply enough into on a tennis message board so that all angles and elements are covered.
Spend a year working intensely with teenage girls, and you'll begin to see what I'm referring to first hand.

In the end, if something does drastic damage to many children's lives, I don't think it's worth the cheap and temporary - and largely imaginary - thrill that it brings to the lives of males. Men can live a healthy and happy existence without the inducement of such unrealistic fantasies. Young girls cannot live a healthy or happy life without genuine self-esteem.

Believe me - it's far from 'harmless fun'. For what this stuff provides, the cost is far too high.

Aussie Baseliner, you know what? I'm in a good mood - you can have both!!!

Deuce, it's your overly realistic opinion against the world again. I'm not sure what you do for fun and now I'm not sure what turns you on either, are you a machine? Sexy ladies and sexy men have always been a staple of human culture and always will. So I'm sorry but you'll have to move to mars to see it your way; you will want to stay away from Venus though, there's lots of sexy babes there.
