got into work...saw we had 2006 wilson booklets...

there is a nsix-one that comes in 27 and 27.5 length

also the new ncode pro open and ncode pro open x. again, regular and extended length. i believe come in 98 and 113 same as the...

wilson nblade. the nblade will feature a different string pattern than the first two which both feature 16x19. haven't been able to see if the nblade is the only one with the x-foam in the frame. will ask more and post the specidifces tomorrow afternoon straight from the booklet.

and FYI no info on an n code seven one (7.1) as has been speculated on the board. the nblade was the only "players" racquet that was in the booklet. aside from the sixones of course.

Let us know if they're coming out with that "Pro Spec 88" that was discussed here a while back. You know, the one that's supposed to be the actual racquet that Federer uses.

again, had the booklet in my hand. out the door, went back to fill out my time sheet and forgot. head pro had the nblade hiding in his office. had i known i would've used it while i was working out with my new vantage :) (review to come)

either way, again...no new 7.1 or pro spec 88. federer's pic was next to the ncode 90 and ncode 95 18x20. no mention of the 95 16x19.

ncode npro open. (bryan brothers) looks like the surge but with a black paint job scrawling over the green. hot cosmetics imo. both the open and open x are 100" sq. in and 11.0 oz. the x is 27.5 the regular open 27.

n blade comes in 98 and 106 we already know the specs, racquet is on pre-order. n blade has a thin square beam in the throat. haven't his but looks to be a stiffer rok...sure it plays something like a radical perhaps. the longer version is an odd 27.3. bout time they made racquets other than in 27 and 27.5

now the sixtwo is a favorite of many on this board. comes in 100 and 113 sq. inch! the later has a 27.5 length i believe. it will be interesting to see how different the six two and npro open are. even though both are 100 and similiar in length and weight. forgot to look at balance. no mention of wilson's "x foam" technology as noted on TW for the nblade. i think it's a novel idea. surprised no one ever thought of filling the actual frame with some kind of substance. pics when i get the chance.

by the way...the sixtwo's paint scheme is "skunk like" however not like the ncode 90. imagine the ncode 90 with out the shift between white and red. mostly black with a few white ncode logos in the frame like the nblade.

You'll be like that French girl waiting 30 years for her fiance to return from the Great War!
I remember that thread and the OP lived in Calgary, of all places. Not exactly a tennis hotbed for topsecret prototype racquets. Don't let people mess with you!

The nPro Open has a sticker on it saying it's a swing index of 5.0, is 300 grams, and is 7 points HL. The one I'm holding is 312 grams strung with 17 gauge Sensation, and is 7 points HL. There seems to be some discrepancy since the sticker seems to describe unstrung weights but the balance with stringing matches the sticker.

It's a nice playing racquet, just a bit on the light side.

I came back to tennis less than a year ago after 15 years off, so I haven't hit with that many different types of racquets, and never the Surge so I can't compare.

I did compare it with a Babolat Pure Drive Team, which was 5 grams heavier but also 7 points HL. These were both 100 sq. in. heads. The nPro Open has less vibration and is less tinny feeling when hitting balls near the tip of the racquet. The Pure Drive seems to have a slightly larger sweet spot but it is less sweet than hitting the center of the nPro Open. Both were strung with 17 gauge Sensation at the same tension, probably 63-65 lbs or so, and in terms of power both felt very close, with the nPro having just a slight amount more pop. Volleys just felt better with the nPro Open, though trajectory and placement with both racquets was nearly identical.

It just seems to me like the nPro Open is just a bit better at everything than the Pure Drive.

Here's what the sticker says on the nPro Open that I'm holding:

Tension: 23-27 kg, 53-63 lbs
Length: 68.6 cm, 27 inches
Weight: 300 grams, 10.6 ounces
Headsize: 645 cm-squared, 100 sq. in.
Balance: 32 cm (7 pts HL)
Pattern: 16X19
SI: 5.0

Hmm, seems like a totally different racquet spec.

What I thought too, except that even when strung, it was still 7 points HL.

ProStaffer's list also said swing index of 6.0, while the racquet says 5.0.

This racquet has a very classic feel, with a well defined but smaller sweetspot that feels a lot like a racquet from the early 80's. There is no vibration when hitting it sweet, and you get that dull thud that's almost wood-like. It's nice if you prefer that kind of response.

Click on the pics to see the Bryans playing with the npro open. It looks a lot like the blade but has lime green in the hoop instead of the blade's orange.

Midlife crisis never used the racquet and so you will not get a pic from him. The racquet is not even out yet.

Chris Edwards from Tennis Warehouse asked me to demo this racquet back on February 14th, and report back to him my findings. I was sent a Pure Drive Team and Hybrid Hornet to compare them against.

off topic post and replies removed.

I'm interested to see the pictures, too. I haven't been liking many wilson frames lately, but the specs on some of these are a little interesting, at least.
