Marius - I am keeping your advice about racquet weight and balance, and will add swing weigt, but am wondering what racquet you use. Thanks!

Congrats. The N6195/16-18 is a great stick. I'm not biased or anything :)

You'll probably have to mess around with your string tensions to get it right for you...especially with an all poly set-up. Personally I don't like a 100% poly set-up in this frame (played the N61 for >20 months with ~25 string jobs). You might want to try a hybrid set-up next time (BB/syn gut or gut). Much better feel and playability.

Enjoy your stick.

I went with 55 lbs for the n61 95. I put it right in the middle to see if I should add or take off next time around. Rooski, I'm thinking of putting some BB original on the mains and some pdsg on the crosses. Is that a good idea? Have you ever experienced with this hybrid?

Welcome to the club. I've tried a lot of hybrids in my n6-1s. My favorites are Gamma Revelation 17 mains/Gosen sheep 17 crosses for winter (when I play indoors and less often) and Hurricane 18/Sheep 17 during the summertime.

I too bought the N6.1 95 16X18 this week to replace a Slaz X1 and have played thrice with it - once doubles and twice singles. I have it strung with BB ALU Power at 52 (2 above minimum recommended). Observations:

Does not feel heavy. Must be the 10 pts HL balance.

Getting better spin on second serve compared to X1 which surprised me. And better accuracy and slightly more power on first serve.

More stability on serve returns and blocks against hard shots compared to stock X1.

Not as good a BH slice as X1.

At 52 lbs, some of the topspin BHs are going out.

No problems on the arm so far but definitely not in the comfortable category like Ki5 and even the X1.

Only negative impression is lack of feel. Quite different from the braided graphite of the X1. Even with a 12.2 oz static weight, I get a "plastic" feel. Maybe I will get used to it.

Ok guys, just played with it yesterday, here are my first impressions:

Volleys: Oh man, I just love this stick on volleys, before my volleys didn't have as much bite as with the n61 95. My volleys were, crisp and mostly deep. It seemed so natural with this frame to volley well.

Serves: Very good, you can definetly feel the force and the potential of a very hard, "spinny" serve. I felt that I can produce some prettty high kick with this racket. Great control with this frame. I had alot of ease of placing the ball exactly where I wanted.

Groundstrokes: When I was baseline rallying, at first I took me some time to get used to the weight and SW of the frame. Of course I didn't help that I had an aching back(hockey). Nonetheless I had a good time hitting with this frame, the precision of the shots were good and so was the power. On return of serves this was really a fantastic time to play with it. I had difficulty with hitting return of serves down the line winner. My friend was easily hitting 95-100 mph serves. But with this racket it was much easier to have the precision you want. I must say that my old stick was a prince TT bandit OS, so that explains everything I guess. I absolutly cannot wait to play regularly with this frame.

should try to compare it if you can with a 6.1 Tour 90 (ncode or not)

huh? Are you telling me that I should try the 6.1 tour 90 or in my description I should try to compare it? Because I've never tried the 90...

oh btw, i noticed that i can have more power with my ncode 90 tour by using pearl zone strung at 45 than before, with a hybrid of nat gut on the mains(55) and luxilon bb alu rough on he crosses(52)

I played 2 days with a demo n6-1 tour strung with BB Alu.
Bar none, the sickest and heaviest groundstrokes i've ever hit, but very little juice on serves (maybe it's the strings or me not being used to the swingweight - even though my n6-1 95s are around 12.8oz strung). Very fun racket to play with, but it holds my game back more than I'd like.

Mr Federer: you play hockey? damn we got so much in common

I feel the same way. I want to try the N6.1 90 just because its so much more solid. I mean the racquet is solid it just sort of has that tweener feel to it. Unlike the 200g or the LM Prestige.

I use a really nice and crisp hybrid on my ncode 95 16x18. Kirschbaum Super Smash Original for the mains, and Gamma Syn.Gut w/wearguard for crosses at 62.5lbs. Before I had all out syn. gut at 64lbs and its lasted me 2 hours, and it didnt feel as good as the hybrid i have now.

How do you think it plays without a dampener? I usually use a rubber band but i think im gonna try it without one for a bit.

I personally find playing without a dampener feels better, it feels like you get a bit more grip and more feel when you hit. I don't know if it is just me but playing with out a dampener makes the racquet feel more manueverable too.

Which hybrid combo do you guys think is better? polyester on the main and multifilament on the cross, or multifilament on the main and polyester on the cross? Anyone knows if ferderer put the polyester on main or cross?

jsuen

for federer it's poly on the crosses and gut on the mains, isn't it? i've been using babolat pro hurricane for the mains and a natural gut on the crosses, but might switch to help 'soften' up the stringbed more.
