I had an old Tennis or World Tennis magazine from 85 or so that reviewed this racquet, so it's about 20 years old. I don't remember too much from the capsule blurb, but the overall comments were generally good.

I have a Wilson Avenger Midsize (85) that I bought sometime around 1983 or so. The midsize is more or less identical to the Wilson ProStaff 6.0-85 in size, form, weight and balance (so when I switched to the 6.0-85 some 5 years ago I immediately was "at home").

I'd say it's a good racket (atleast the midsize was). It's kind of hard to compare them though - my Avenger was severerly worn out (and generates a *lot* more vibrations and less power) when I got the 6.0-85's and thus it's not really a good comparision.

I never played with the oversize versions though...

1983 thanks. i agree - lots of vibration!!
very thin throat. would be really interested in flex rate and swing weight...

More figreglass(60%)than graphite(40%) , and you would call it a tweener of its day. A step up from metal, but down in price point from the Sting($100) and the Pro Staff(150).
