I was warming up for a night match earlier this evening and toward the end of the warmup session I started to feel really dizzy, my legs were, in Ahkyan's word, trembling, and I suddenly had a crazy feeling for coke and Goldfish. So I had to call a timeout and drove to Long Drugs to pick up 2 bottles of Coke and Goldfish. After downing the coke and munchin' away a bag of Goldfish, I felt perfectly normal again and won the match, 1 and 2.

Has anyone here felt a sudden craving for sweets during the middle of a match? For some reason, I have always been thinking about food when I am playing but after the match, I did not feel hungry at all. I hope this is not due to all the hookah I have been smoking! :)

I think they call that the "mun-chies"

Nope, maybe some green beans. :)

Hmmmmm, let's see, you were a bit dizzy and had the munchies....I'm not an expert on this but.....hmmmm....I think you were stoned bro.

BTW, I thought hookah was the name of the pipe...and not the substance?!? So how do you smoke hookah, or better yet, what is it?

Your opponent let you leave the match, go get snacks, eat them, and come back? Wow.

Well obviously it was not a serious match- I hope :).

Never had weird cravings in a middle of a match. Bring some gatorade or something similar and you should be good next time.

Lol, I can't say I've ever felt that way while playing tennis, but I am hypoglycemic and I have passed out a couple times because of low blood sugar. Also, you may have been dehydrated. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger. But whatever does the trick.

Not for sugar but for chips and salsa. I had to lose the match (friendly) on purpose and run home to get some salsa and beer. And this has happened more than once.

Gatorade will bring up your sugar very quickly. However, you can get a rebound "low" if you're not careful. As your sugar goes up quickly, your body releases insulin. The noncomplex sugars that act quickly don't hang around long. You drop your sugar again. To combat this, you need to eat some complex carbs along side drinking a little Gatorade. I eat Attain bars, or drink Attain chocolate mix before I play. It gives some carbs and energy that will last, and not spike the sugar levels.

I sometimes get hungry during matches too, but usually not for sweets, but more solid, meal-type foods. Maybe it's because most of the times when I usually play, it's a snack-oriented time (at 11:00, an hour before lunch, and 3:00, after school I'm beat and dirt hungry, lol).

I mean this sincerely, but maybe your head's not in the game, so your mind wanders and casually lands on food?

I tend to get hungry during a match if I didn't eat enough before the match. You can bring easily digestible food, like bananas, grapes, and for fuel an energy bar. I am not a fan of gatorade or powerade, too much sugar for me. I might bring some anyways and drink a little but mostly water.

Hookah is the pipe, and you smoke the "substance," which contains mint-flavoured tabacco, filtered by ice cold water. smooth!!!

You don't like Gatorade? I drank one of those huge bottles, like a gallon, before a match. Whoa daisy.

It's actually a lot better if you water it down, 1/2 'Ade, 1/2 water.
