Stringing it, no, but I can't imagine that string lasting for very long.

I would also warn a customer that with stringing it higher than the recommendation, there is a chance of the string breaking and that I could not be held responsible.

That is the next string that I want to try at about the tension that I will use.

Please post how it works out for you.

I'd break that in one service game.

congrats to permode! he's da macho man ;) seriously, the bow brand 18 is very very thin. in fact, the 17 is very thin for a 17 and more like an 18. you could string it at 65..it's not going to be very durable obviously. suggest you try the 17 first..it's more like most company's 18. ed

as an afterthought, sampras used 18ga gut <i think> strung around 70lbs and he didnt pop a string on every service game..using this logic that must mean that perfmode has a bigger serve than samps...or maybe perfmode would break the string at a grommet somewhere???? ;)

You're right . . . Sampras used 17. There are some pros using TIMO 18, but that's the only 18's I know of.

Actually if you read the interview with Nate Fergurson( his personal stringer), he used to string Sampras's racquet with Natural Gut at 18-20 gauge. These guts were intended for racquet ball. But Sampras like his string super-thin and extremely tight. Two big NO! NO! if your looking for string duration. But again, Sampras makes a couple of millions/yr, so he can afford go through hundreds of these guts.

I've played with BB gut 18g. They last about 1 1/2 weeks. Now I use BAB VS 15L and they last about a 1 1/2 months.

I also saw on Luxilon official web site advertising Lux at 19g for racquetball. But haven't seen any US dealer with the lux 19g.

I used Bow ng 18g in my prestige classic @ 63 and it lasted a long time... About three weeks at three to four times a week of playing, but it has a 18X20 patern. The string can take the tension but it depends on the frame (sting patern), and play style. Heavy spin will make he strings move. I did notice that when the string did set they didn't move as much as synthetics did. And also the sting will fray, which is the warning sign... But, they did hang tough for a long time before they broke.

Bottom line is if they want it, let them know about how thin the string is and it will break quicker than other guages. It is a good natural gut and as long as it is in the frames recomended range...you know the drill
