are luxion string really worth the money or am i just paying for the name? should i spend 3 times as much to get luxion when i can just use ashaway monogut for less than 5 bucks? have any of u tried them to tell me how they compare?

I would got with another brand other than Luxilon. I know the Klip K-Boom has gotten some good feedback and it is very similar to the Lux ALU but cheaper.

Ive used synthetic... multis, polys, first it was multi, then synthetic, then poly, if you want to use luxilon just dont use TiMO... my strings died fast... ALU holds tension better IMO, but 13 bucks.. 5 more dollars you can get a bow brand gut and hybrid with some synthetic... but right now im using Gosen Sheep Micro 17g at 65lbs... Luxilon is pretty pricey... and I thought it was good... now I think its a waste....

What about Ashaway Monogut for 3.99 ????

Request a free pack from Ashway. I have one sitting in my bag. All I had to do was fill out a form and promise to return the survey after the playtest.

Monogut has snapped on me twice after 3 hours (17 gauge) and 5 hours (16L gauge) - some pretty poor durability for a poly which usually lasts me more than 2 months...

yeah its worth it. And it's 'luxilon" not luxion

ruuzo how often do u break a regualr synthetic like prince syn gut? i guess durabilty isnt really a problem for me because i string for a bunch of people and what they pay me covers my cost

luxilon isn't expensive. why is there a thread about this? l... it's one third the price of gut.

I haven't played regular synthetic gut in awhile (2 years), but back when I was I had hit a point where I broke them every 2 weeks or so which was already too much for me. Which is why I've been playing poly for the last 2 years. I think I hit more spin and harder now than 2 years ago, but to have poly snap on me this quickly was ridiculous, especially when other polys last me more than 2 months.

Anyone that would consider Lux to be expensive, probably has not even tried it. How can a $14 string be cosidered expensive when it lasts 3 times longer than most everything else out there?

Because it dies twice as fast as anything out there. After a week, the strings are dead and play like crap. You only get one or two good matches out of it.

I agree with perfmode ;) rather get synthetic strung 2x a week at 2 dollars a set :) Get to use fresh strings ever 6 hours
