View Full Version : Undoing Grip Buildup

I recently bought a racquet off the board here --advertised as 4 3/8 but was not (built up to a little bigger than 4 1/2). It was advertised as 4 3/8. I have small hands and refuse to play with grips that are too large. Anyway, I e-mailed the person who admitted that the grip was built up (nice timing). Anyway, he says that I can remove the grip and cut the build up off. I am aware of such things, but is that a normal thing to do or is there a risk that I could harm the frame?

THanks in advance.

If it is a simple heat shrink build up, unwrap the replacement grip (often the adhesive stays on the heat shrink wrap and you will need a new replacement grip) and cut down the length of the wrap. I use a razor knife and it is never a problem. Then stick a new grip on and you are good to go. Let us know if you need more information.
