View Full Version : what's the longest you played with a racket....

I mean sticking with a particular racket for months or years. It seems like we all have this urge to try something new once in awhile when in fact getting in shape and stronger will probably solve more than 50% of our dilemma.

well 7 months ago i switched from the turbo beast (after about a year) to the pure storm mp because my game had improved to where that racquet was to powerful. now 7 months later ive been hitting the weights and ive gotten about twice as good and my pure storm is to light and im having to try to put way to much spin on every shot to keep it in so im looking at the n6-1. But I will proubly use it for a year or so until maybe wilson makes a newer version, or ill stick with it.

I am usually pretty good and do not need to get the newest rackets every time they come out. I used wilson hyperhammers for 2 years, wilson triads for 3 years and now i have only had my apd's for almost a year but i do play on sticking with them for a long time.

I've used a ProKennex Graphite Innovator for a total 10 years or so (bought it more than 15 years ago). After a few years of not playing, I decided to switch a year and a half ago to other brands and became a racquet wh@re in the process but finally settled on Volkls.

i used the cts lightening 90 for 5 years. had 6 of them 5 broke and still have 1 that is sitting in the closet. probably would still be using them if they were still around.

From 1987 til 1994 I played with Yonex R-5.

In January 2001 I started to play with Volkl V1, and I would have been still playing with it, but in summer 2004 my wife realized what a great racquet that was; it's her primary racquet now. I myself use Volkl Tour 9 since then.

Played with a Wilson ProStaff 6.1 Classic for a little over 10 years.
Recently made a switch to the Ncode 6.1 95. Offers a bit more power and spin compared to the Classic but lacks the sweet feel of the Classic on volleys.

Gary: Just how long do those things last?

It's kind of hard to remember because I'm a "OLD TIMER". I think 5. Single stripe, 4 stripe, Chang, StraightShaft, and a Tour.

I used a Dunlop Max200G for 13 years, from 1987 to 2000. If they kept making them, I'd probably be still using them. Unfortunately, they stopped making them (and closed the only factory in the world, in England, that made them) in 1992.

I always giggle when I see someone here write things like, "My old racquet was an O3 Tour, which I used for a long, long time - way too long.", when that racquet has only been around for a year.

Played with a Prince TT Bandit for about 2 years, using a Head is2 occasionally during that period.
Then moved on to a Head FXP Radical Tour for a few months, then on to my current racquet a Wilson NsixOne 95 16x18 which I feel will be a long term keeper, just purchased a second one.

I have more racquets than a Mafia Don. :)

I did play with the Wilson Jack Kramer model for about 6 years but that was 40 years ago. Now, I will "dance" with any two bit floozy who promises more than she can deliver and wags her "head" at me with a come hither look. I know I'm being strung along, and some times the tension is a bit much, but I'm on the rebound and need true "love".

I've been using the same Frame since it debuted on the market in 1996. It was discontinued I believe in 1999.

The Racquet is the Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Stretch 110, and I stocked up on them so I see no plans of me changing anytime soon.

I've been playing with the Dunlop Muscle Weave 200g since summer of 2000. My 2 rackets are getting pretty beat up; I made a 3 foot long skid with the side of the frame during a scramble this weekend. Unfortunately, I can't find a suitable replacement in the past couple of years of looking. Everything is too stiff or too light.

I played with the Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Classic in college and stayed with it for 10 years. Then tried the Hyper ProStaff 6.1 and couldn't quite adjust to it. Went on a two-year odyssey tryng a dozen racquets. Finally just settled on the Volkl Tour 10 V-Engine Mid. I hope I go another 10 years with this one.

I played with my Wilson Hyper Hammer 2 for 4 years until it broke.

There is a crazy guy at our club who uses really old rackets from the 1970's (traditional 78 square inch). I've seen him occassionally using a Wilson T 2000 but he usually plays with an aluminium green Yonex. He actually plays quite a good game and do well with a Federer type racket, but he is too crazy and too stubborn.

Bought a P.S. 6.0 85 the year after it came out, so call that 1984, played with it (just an intermediate, so can't claim these were always tournaments) as my only racquet until 2003. That's 19 years and a lot of gut. Still use it once in a while to keep myself honest (and frustrated).

HHhaahaha!

I used various woods...then the legendary Dunlop Max 200g from 1983 or 84 to 1993. Lucky to be exposed to it when I was just a junior.

Then a dalliance with the Dunlop 500i, Puma Becker, Prestige, the PS 85...until I discovered Volkls. Been hitting with various Volkls with the number ten on 'em from early 1995 to present (no end in sight).
