In my USTA locals we were told that the rosters had to be cut down to 15 players this year. I am having a hard time understanding the motive behind this cause the more players, the more money brought in. Any way other border states allow as many players as are wanted as long as they can get qualified. When or if we get to state we are playing against teams that have sometimes up to 20-24 players on their roster. This means that during the heat of competition they have as much as 8 more players to draw from. This may not seem like a big deal but it really doesn't seem fair to me. What do you guys think about this?

It seems like a strange thing to do. Maybe they are hoping that it will result in more teams forming.
What local league system are you in? Do you have a link to their web site and do they have information about the roster limit there?

Here the cutoff is 14 players per team. The self-rating fiasco has greatly reduced participation in this neck of the woods.
How has self-rating reduced the participation? Here I understand the self-rating thing actually increased participation, as there wasn't any barrier to entry. (This is NORCAL, and I guess I'm not sure I believe them.)
