:Have a club tourney this weekend. There are two players in particular that I think I might have trouble with. The first has a huge flat, first serve and a huge kicker for a second. He hits the ball HARD from the baseline, but is error-prone. Isn't the fastest player out there. The other one is a counterpuncher who is very fast, but has weak serves. He almost never makes UE's:(

I, myself, have a big first serve (it can be inconsistent.) I'm trying to develop a grinding style, not making mistakes. I am very fast. Any tips on how beat these two? Thanks in advance.

Considering I, and probably everyone else on this board has never played against them, you would probably be better off asking advice from someone you know that has played them before. That information would be more valuable to you than anything you might be told here.

Good luck in the tourny, and don't forget to have fun.

Well it is not too hard to think about this.

Lets first think about player 1 as described by you, my first question is how is his back hand and how well does he handle high balls and soft balls.

IMO for the first back up, for the second get closer and take on the rise, look to see if any of your positioning will make him error, you will want to get the ball back to the side that he errors most on with either a high ball or a soft ball.

Grind it, keep your angles up, keep your play pace continually changing from fast to slow, keep your errors as low as possible.

As for player 2 you need to get them out of position and then then when the hit a soft ball to increase speed of hitting to get the winner, but keep your errors down.

Always serve to your opponets weak return side, and keep the serve varied so that when they get acustomed to this or that you change it up on the serve.

Thanks, Jackson Vile, I'll work on that.
