I now do almost all my own (simple) racket customization. Stringing, now done by a friend.

Are these local pro shops or chained pro shops? I'm located in NorCal and looking to having my 4 5/8 grips shrunk to 4 1/2...

Anyone know who or where it can be done?

For the entire thing that sounds like an OK price though you could have saved a couple of greens for an Ice Cream. But then again how much do you value your time, you might have gotten a super deal if your time is worth alot. Opprtunity cost and the best forgone choice.

There are Professional services which can can your Grip Size on your Racquet. Mind you, there is a cost associated with having it done by top people, which may or may not, fit into your budget.

If you are interested I'd suggest looking into...

1) RPNY Tennis
2) Bosworth Tennis
3) Racquet Maxx

John

Keep in mind you aren't just paying the stringer, but the pro shop as well. So whatever they charged you gets split up. Not a rip off, but if you want to save money, you should have (and could have) done all that by yourself.

my thoughts were butt caps are only $2-3, and replacement grip is about $3~5, and of course i have no idea how much the grip sleeve is...

You were at a retail por shop. The grip price should be in the 7.00$ range, Installing a buttcap($2.00) plus a sleeve($2.00) takes 1/4 of an hour labor charge. I don't know many shop that would have charged less.
If you are that price sensitive, stock up on the simple supplies for the repairs you want to tackle.

Hey thanks,

Do you know where it's located or the full name of the shop so I can look it up? If they shrink the grip size, do they also build up using shrink sleeves? If so, how much...or do you have a phone number?

Thanks

One valid point, to me anyway, worth mentioning.

Often times people will compare a product or service based on cost.

To me, I'd rather pay a little extra to ensure a job I am completely satisfied with.

Of course a price alone is not an indication of quality, but I do not mind paying extra when I am confident in the craftsmanship.

25 bucks to reduce the grip size is a rip off? Some guy was going to charge me 70 bucks a stick, I thought 25 was a better deal.

Who or what would be cheaper?

Depends on the racquet. If you can find it for $30 on e bay then that might be the better way to go.
Or risk doing it yourself.

I meant buy a new(used) racquet on e bay that is the right size. If it's older, then it might be cheap enough just to buy one.
