play in a week and do you think you play enough? What is just enough tennis for you guys without going to the point of " Law of diminishing returns " meaning you're just playing too much and feel that you are not improving your tennis and just risking injury. Thanks.

I dont see how playing too much tennis can not make you improve...unless you're just going to chill with your friends and fool around. If thats the case, you wont improve at all, but if you take tennis seriously and work on improvement day by day, you will improve, no matter how much you play.

Well depends how serious you are. If your goal is to get good technique, playing for extended hours cant hurt, but if all you want to do is hit hard, and with topspin, its gonna end your tennis life pretty fast. I play 5 hours a week in just practice, and a 2-3 hour match on weekends.

Last season, 3-4 times a week approx. 3hrs. per session.
i) a 1 1/2 hr drills/practice w/coach, finish w/ 1 1/2 playing sets.
ii) a 3hr. mid-week session team practice playing sets.
iii) 1/2hr early match day practice, 1/2 hr warm-up, 2 hr match. team A
iv) another match day same as above if my team B, is playing same week.
BTW, on many 'off days', i try to hit 100-120 practice serves, mostly for the ball toss & placement.

Two to three times a week, but recently cut down to once a week. Mainly because of the annoying elbow pain, but also for not having enough free time to play.
I try to play as much and as often as I can, tho.

i am a late starter and feel i need to catch up to those who started before me, so everyday (summer, when school is off) i hit for an hour with a coach, play a match or hit with a person or ball machine or wall for about two-three hours, run for an hour, and work out at a gym for an hour. if i injure myself then that is too bad because i dont have a chance at a pro career unless i work as hard as possible

I'm a streak player so I will get 2 weeks off and then nothing for up to 1-3 months, and once a month off once every 6 months or more.
So I play it up and sometimes twice a day.
You have to watch the sleep and diet, and also consider the other physcial activities thoughout the day/week, even if it is just walking or helping some one move ect.
When I am off I do nothing but sleep eat and play tennis
If you are tired just tone it down, don't serve, work on special shots or shots you need work on as long as it is very lite.
If you find you are having trouble returning anything, placemnts is off, feel and unwillingness to get balls that are further away, ect
You need to not be playing.
You just do what you can when you can, if you want more then you had better sleep more/better and eat more/better.

Ideally 4-5 times a week with at least 2 hours each time. I also workout every other day.

You really do that, have you just started playing?
I can't even imagine what I could play like if I could practice and play on a regular basis, I am happy just to sneak off once in a month:mrgreen:
