I guess i asked for this... ...

Now, it's been bugging me for a long long time, almost 2months, but i kept playing, just rallying. Knowing that it wont heal unless i stop completely, so i have decided to lay off from tennis for 4weeks. (It's only been a week and i'm dying to play already)

What can i do in the mean time? Do you guys recommend me resume my normal back work regimen, but reduce the weight and add reptition. For back, i normally do squats (before getting injured, i was doing 205 @ 16reps - 1st set, 225@ 14reps - 2nd set, 245 @ 12reps - 3rd set). The various shoulders workout that involves the back (sorry i dont know what they're called, but i hope you know what i'm talking about). I have been stretching a lot, and i pretty have all of of the flexibility back and then some. But the nagging pain is still there.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

exagerated back movement during service
tossing too much behind you

you need to do back extensions before your squats or deadlifts
read my advice here:

oh yeah, i've been doing that. What about rest time? Should i rest completely? or begin my rehab as i rest from tennis?

You have back problems, in part, because your movement through the ball is all wrong. Look at the direction of your racquet head at the back!!! It's pointing at the side, not down. Look at your elbow. Dude, if I did that I'd be in traction for a month!! Ouchee!!

Go to www.tennisplayer.net and take a subscription. Read everything there on the serve. John Yandell has done a brilliant job. Or, get a really good pro to film your stroke and show you. Meanwhile, MM is right on target, plus you need to rest that back while you are learning about the serve. You obviously have the athletic ability to crush the ball, but you have to give yourself a chance with the right form.

Good luck!
