Right now I use poly mains with textured crosses. They seemed to last almost too long until the crosses finally broke. I would prefer they break around the time, or shortly after, that they go dead. I am considering swapping them, putting the textured syn gut mains with poly crosses. What differences could I expect from this change? I'm sure the durability would go down, but what about feel, spin, playability? Anyone think this is a good idea?

It is pretty much a universal fact that about 80% of the feel of your racquet is the result of the main strings. With that in mind, your racquet would take on a more soft feel.
However, your mains wouldn't last long, so you'd certainly pop your strings before the stringbed went dead.

You might as well dump the poly altogether if they're not in the mains. Crosses never break anyway.
