View Full Version : Ideal tension for PD

If you use PD, what's your string tension?

I have mine at 54 and I feel that it's a bit too powerful, I want more control, but I'm not sure what tension I should string it at.

the recommended tension is like 50-55, and I heard stringing outside the recommended tension will negate the woofer effect. Some people say it's a good thing, some say it's a bad thing. What does the woofer actually do?

I used to play with the PD and it was perfect for me at 64lbs with a very thin poly... I tried few times to string it less than 60 and thought it was unplayable, i did not have any control whatsoever...

its still great out of the recommended woofer range. i have mine at 60, but i want it tighter. i would say around 62 or 63, but try 60, its good at that if you still want some power

That's what it does.

I played mine @ 60 or a little better, depending on strings. Took the Woofer out, and made it very playable.

Most of them that I string are done at 5 pounds or so over the maximum tension on the racket.

I think i'll try 60.

How big of a difference is going from 54 to 60? can you feel the difference?

Hey, I string mine with synthetic gut in the mains and Wilson sensation Supreme in the crosses at 63 lbs. It is an amazing combo, great topspin, great control, great feel. Its awesome

xranger, yes, you can tell the difference going from 54 to 60 lbs on a pd. won't have as much "springiness" due to the woofer system being negated.
